Angel Beats! 02

Angel Beats!

I have no idea what to really say about this episode, but Tenshi playing the piano in the OP is pretty awesome.

Angel Beats!

I might as well mention that this scene was pretty funny and erotic at the same time too. Good to know the afterlife has baths and perfume.

    Wow..that’s a pretty short post ._.

    I was expecting a more in-depth look..haha.

Anyway, for me, I thought the 2nd episode was quite decent, especially the way they started it off in a light-hearted way by killing off the members one by one, paying homage to movies like Indiana Jones (Rolling Boulder, quite generic by now, no?) and Resident Evil. All these to ease us into Yuri’s past…and wow…that was really a nasty experience that she had…

I like this blend of comedy and seriousness though. Not to mention a bit of fanservice. Hinata getting kicked off because of him grabbing Yuri’s boobs was hilarious, not to mention the Fail Cannon that the guild members tried to use.

Although there are some dips in the animation here and there, overall, the 2nd episode is decent enough to keep me wanting more.

Heh I liked how they were able to create stuff using their memories. Well since they had bazookas and various machine guns, does that mean those teenagers had experience with such weapons during their life times? O.o musta been some mean ways to die.

I loved how it was serious and funny at the same time.
    Anyone else love TK?

Felt too lazy to go in-depth. I can just leave that to the 2749390 other bloggers and twitterers talking about Angel Beats! now.

The traps part was a bit ridiculous, but was entertaining. Yurippe’s past was less… tragic than I thought, but great cocktease there by Jun not revealing exactly how she died. Not sure how to take the fact there are no suiciders in the academy…. but it does make sense considering his track record. I believe the academy is sort of like a second chance limbo for people who have died suddenly, a lot more now.

Animation wise, I think this episode was more consistent than episode 1. It was more of a tradeoff between detail and quality in episode one, you see.

@FlameStrike: I am going to laugh if they made it from their memories of playing FPS’es. Too bad they didn’t have Star Wars or Nanaha otakus in the afterlife, herp derp.

Not as tragic as you thought? What’s even worse than seeing your 3 siblings killed by unknown strangers right before your very eyes? Of course…that might be due to myself being a older brother…

Haha..would be awesome if they can use Divine Buster against Tenshi.

    Or Negima otakus?

    *imagine TK using Magicia Ereba*

@Chris: I totally thought she was going to get raped and killed at that part, but it seems the robbers weren’t pedophiles, which is a small blessing within a tragedy I guess. Still, they are heartless bastards.

This episode confirmed quite a bit about a few aspects about the series, such as the rules of the dead and also where they got their weapons from. I’m still up to the idea being that the whole world being virtual, and they are all actually on the verge of death…wouldn’t be the first from KEY, which makes it a bit suspicious.

I like the fact that dirt is the universal building material.

So, any PC in this world can use the “Projection” skill of Archer?

Kind of funny, considering the hero remind me on Shirou Emiya. XDD

But you can see in this episode, that the regisseur has done comedies until now. I´m not sure, if this is bad or good…

This might just be nostalgia but, around that age, girls don’t need baths or perfume to smell really reaaally good. :3

    Everyone loves TK.

Also, why is it so believable that there aren’t any people who committed suicide in the Barnacle dimension? Yuri seemed pretty adamant that it wasn’t the case, but it could have just been righteous denial.

Can you say there aren’t aliens in space just because you haven’t seen any yet?
I guess you can say the same thing for suiciders in Angel Beats. (Or they have the “Rulebook of the after-life” or something like that xD)

When I watched the episode, I got the feeling Otonashi might be the first suicider there o.O

I like TK so much, all the gibberish is quite amusing.
But more than anything, I liked Hinata (I hope I got that right). The way he likes Otanashi was really cute! He’s a potty mouth yet he’s nice. Yup, he was interesting. I am really looking forward to getting to know the other characters rather than the two main ones.

Angel Beats blew a major chance to be clever by having a character keep forgetting to warn the team about “traps” and yet have Emiri Kato on staff to voice someone else.

The line TK had right before he dies is lyrics from B’z’s “Hurry Up”
