Negima! 284

Negima!

Asuna’s finally back in the series!

Negima!

Negima!

And she’s going through the pain of regaining her own past, and what looks to be like at least a hundred years of it or something. Seems like Asuna might not be just Negi’s aunt, but maybe a grand-ancestor relative now! It would pretty funky if it turns out Asuna and Evangeline are like the same age or older, herp derp.

Negima!

Speaking of Asuna… Anya’s back too. In special meido-fuku saa~bisu as well :). I think it’s already been mentioned somewhere that it seems Fate has a giant predilection for maid outfits.

Negima!

Ooohh~ Asuna’s back up…. or maybe not fully.

Negima!

Derp, Fate’s here as well.

Negima!

Negima!

Finally! Some exposition on Fate’s real intentions! So the Magical World is about to collapse huh…. ties in with what Chao had been implying earlier in the series about her trying to prevent a giant catastrophe of some sort in the future.

Negima!

….. what?!

Negima!

Oh… so he wants to put them all in some form of “Eden” that’s located… where?!

Negima!

Fate confirms our suspicions finally. So pretty much 97-odd% of the Magical World are illusionary beings made from magic.

Faced with this cruel truth… what will Asuna do now?!

Will Negi and co. manage to save her and Anya in time?

And what will be Negi’s choice when he finds out the real truth behind the Mundus Magicus?

Looks like this will be the turning point of the series…..

He stole this from a ST:TNG episode. The one I’m thinking of was about a village on a planet in which, it turned out, there was an outdoor holodeck running, and all the citizens except one were simulations.

Boy, you do update fast! It’s good to see the real Asuna in action again… Her BSOD didn’t last long and I think Fate insisting her ‘Kagurazaka’ personality is fake will be the weak point of his ‘turn Asuna to our side’ plan but… why do I have a feeling that Asuna isn’t completely alright as she claims to be?

Wait. Wait, it *makes sense*, in theory…But that doesn’t explain the fact that some people have *clearly* crossed from one world to another, without ill-effect. The original White Wing group, Takana D. Goodman, the other magical teachers…Does that mean they’re not ‘real’, too? They certainly seem to be, and they’ve visited the magical world before, too…

-Or how about Negi/his sister, those people in the village who were petrified? Would they vanish, or stay the way they were?

    Re: Burnout

Actually, it makes total sense. And the person who confirms this is Al Imma. Remember why he has to reside at the bottom of the world tree, and cannot come to the surface except for when the world tree is at it’s zenith: because he is a citizen of Mundus Magicus, and cannot survive without magical energy that sustains him. As for the others you mentioned, chances are they are all human, and not the illusionary beings that Fate refers to. My guess is that the illusionary beings are the demi-humans, such as the cat people, the dolphin people, etc.

I’m curious though: Does this mean that Kotarou and Setsuna are also illusionary? Or are they demons of the old world, and thus not need to worry about rewrite?

    @ Lollermann

Damn, you´re right! Now Akamatsu has nearly reached Oda´s Level of preparing Chekov´s Gunmen.

Regarding Kotarou and Setsuna, they can survive outside a strong magic field, so I guess at least Japanese Youkais are considered as “real”.

Also I´m glad, that Asuna came back onto her feets! That´s the spirit, girl!

HAHAHAHA magical version of Zegapain indeed.

Seriously, that pic of huge Asuna brings back horrifying Evangelion memories again…..

On another point, doesn’t this make Asuna the worst cradle-robber there is after Eva? I mean technically, being over a hundred years old, even hitting on Takamichi is like a 75 year difference! I knew grannies still had sex drives, but this is ridiculous!

  10. Haesslich Said,

    April 1, 2010 @ 11:38 pm

Lollerman: that’s part of why Takamichi kept turning her down; that, and he doesn’t feel worthy if princesses, especially ones old enough to be his grandma.

    regarding Al

    Ch100 Hidden Memory

Al can clearly be seen moving around in Istanbul in the real world. Ken sensei hasn’t said it but whatever reason Al is spending his days underneath the world tree is not related to the him form the magic world. It hasn’t even been establish that he was form the magic world.

  13. Fluffy Said,

I think Negi might already know the truth behind Mundus Magicus. He saw an entry about the magic world in Nodoka’s diary when Chisame handed it to him. I’m a little confused about Asuna having memories going back a hundred years. I’m guessing she gets reincarnated repeatedly and has memories from her previous lives. Her past will make sense in chapters to come.

  14. Xellos-_^ Said,

    April 2, 2010 @ 1:30 am

    @fluffy,

no reincarnation, Asuna is over 100 yrs old.

  15. Lollerman Said,

    April 2, 2010 @ 1:35 am

    @ Xellos

I actually have a theory about that as well. Rakan never showed up in “our world” at least as we have seen. Isn’t it possible that Al was using Nagi like a type of battery for power? One of the points of the Pactio is to draw power from the Mage to the partner. In that case, Al could survive by “Feeding” of Nagi while Nagi was there, and then spent the last 10 years under the World Tree once Nagi left.

  16. Xellos-_^ Said,

    April 2, 2010 @ 1:52 am

    @lollerman

you are trying to speculate without facts. Sure Raken might not be able to show up in the real world since he is form the magic world. But for Al, we have no info on his back ground to make any kind of guess where he is form.

anyway you are forgetting that Al’s pactio with Nagi still works so the pactio is still drawing power form Nagi. whether Nagi is around or not doesn’t matter as his energy is still feeding into the pactio card with both Raken and Al.

btw i am not saying you are wrong about the magic world people needing magic to survive in the real world. i am just saying you are wrong about Al base on current evidence.

Wow, Asuna could be the same age as Evangeline. New idea: she’s not a vampire like Evangeline but she’s immortal. Al Imma said her appearance couldn’t reflect her age in a dream she was having of her past. Maybe as long as her memories were wiped, she could age like a normal human. Her dark memories were what made her mentally old despite having a youthful body. Take away that stumbling block and she’s an ordinary girl that can grow up with a happy life. It’s just an idea but it would make sense as to everyone kept what she really was a secret from her.

And Takane D. Goodman isn’t from MW, she just stayed her infancy there.

Neither Setsuna, Kotarou, Negi or Asuna will be affected by Rewrite or anything, they’re not created by MoB. Setsuna and Kotarou are HALF-youkais, their races really exists on the real world. So they’ll not be affected at all.

The only ones who’ll be affected by this are the ones who lives at MW. Dunno if Al will be affected too.

And what will Negi do to solve this mistery of MW??

For theories and scenarios, there’s always AQS at all. =P

Ps.: I think Fate will be converted by Negi just before the end of this arc.

Fate’s maid fetish clearly indicates he is more awesome than I previously anticipated, and I thought highly of him to begin with.

However, as lovably goofy as Anya is and as awesome as maids are, maid Anya is sketchy. Do not want.

  20. KK Said,

    April 2, 2010 @ 12:43 pm

I don’t think Asuna is actually related to Negi at all… I don’t think she’s quote unquote “human” – she seems more like a magical construct / magic world god.

  21. quigonkenny Said,

As for Lollerman’s theory, yes, it’s speculating without facts, but if we had facts, it wouldn’t be speculation, would it? There is a fair amount of “circumstantial evidence” that hints at it. And while we know that the teleportation and telepathy powers of the pactio cards have a distance limit, and that the artifact power obviously does not, I believe no mention has been made of whether the mana pull power has a limit as well. If it does, the theory holds.

Hell, for the longest time the theory that Asuna was ancient was bantied about as Gospel truth due simply to one offhand comment by Al and her lolidom 20 years ago. Then we found out she was sealed away for 10 of those years, worked the math, and we realized that that was a much more reasonable explanation. And now it is revealed that she’s probably a hundred of more years old and all of a sudden it’s a non-question and the argument moves to “Well, why didn’t she age before?” All discussion is speculation until you have facts, and Akamatsu loves to give them out sparingly.

@Maedros: As long as he’s not “converted” the same way as Shiori was…

For some reason, the whole plot is giving a “Concealed the Conclusion” vibe. I wonder if that’ll be how Negi will resolve this?…

    @Steven Den Beste

You’re confusing TNG with Voyager, unless you meant the episode were the tragedy that wiped out an entire civilization was all a memory recording (not a holodeck simulation) that Picard and co. get to experience first hand.

re. Steven’s comparison. In any case the people of Mars are considered to be real people, and they certainly have lives that they live on Mars. The more accurate comparison from AQS is that episode where two self aware holodeck characters were ‘saved’ into a holoblock.

And next chapter is looking awesome. Eva~~~ <3
