I swear, watching this anime, you'd get the feeling that they fight by talking in feudal Japan. I sat through 50 minutes of dialogue and bad word play in the form of Shichika Hachiretsu? Well, at least it wasn't that bad.

Shichika is just too slow and/or dumb to put much emotion in his voice.

Agree that Shichika's voice is on the bland side, but I think that may be a deliberate conveyance of his personality.

Wish Gonzo would've been able to do it, I love their "layered" style animated shows

Honestly, I was a bit turned off by the lack of action, and snoozed through the incredibly long-ass dialogues (which really quite the opposite of the "let our swords do the talking" kind of delivery other shows do), but hey, it's NisiOisiN's style of story-telling, so yeah.

For a series of 12 episodes, giving this a shot won't hurt. But they better try to do justice on the next episode by cutting off the talk time by half. :D

I'll only be watching this for my Tamura Yukari fix. I don't know if it's just me, I feel that she had a role in much anything lately, so I sort of miss her ;_;

I really liked this 1st episode, but completely agree with you about Shichika's terribly bland voice acting.

Will be a challenge to keep this interesting for its entire run - Sword of the Month is a bit too similar to the dreaded Monster of the Week oremise.....but I do have high hopes for the series.
