Hanamaru Kindergarten 03

Hanamaru Kindergarten

Someone, please tell me how “Hanamaru” translates to “Gold Star”?!

Hanamaru Kindergarten

That. Is extremely a profound thing to hear from a 4/5 year old girl. Precocious much?

Biggest lie of the Year. Is Yamamoto really that clueless? But that said I still want her to be my WAIFU.

Good job, Gainax. Glad to see you guys haven’t lost your touch after so long. This is now my Favourite Show™ of the season.

Why am I imagining Anzu going “SHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!” like Potemayo in that hug scene? ;)

In some cultures you put a gold star sticker on a student’s outstanding schoolwork. Apparently in Japan it’s a hanamaru. Or at least that’s what I’m getting from other blogs and even a youtube video with kat-kun

Ah, the only show in a long time to make me cuddle up and get all giddy. This show is utterly diabetic and overflowing in uber-cuteness.

However, I suggest Anzu use more of that kiddie-cuteness rather than trying to act all adult, her results will be better. Also I hope to see more of her rabid kitten act around Yamamoto-Sensei.

    Oh and Hii-chan Cosplay FTW!

This would also be my favourite show of the season if they did away completely with Anzu and then gave all the extra screen time to Hii-chan.

I’ll let you have Yamamoto, if I can have her younger sister.

The year is still young. I’m sure we’ll hear even more outrageous lies.

You will never change Hiiragi’s diaper, getting a whiff of her fresh, still smoldering shit that’s the product of a meal of baked potatoes and roast beef, sliding the diaper out from underneath her cute little bottom, and as you pick up the diaper you can feel the wait of her shit and the warmth of hiiragi’s excrements through the material, and then you put hte diaper away, and take some wet-ones and wipe the remains of the brown substance from Hiiragi’s perfectly hairless bottom, and then you take baby powder and apply it on her, holding her tiny little feet in your one hand, and then you spread her legs open and wrap a fresh new diaper around her buttocks, and all the while Hiiragi is staring straight into your eyes with her deep, blue eyes with a slightly annoyed look but inside you know that she appreciates what you did for her.

I never understood that silly “my waifu” mentality.

Kuro: Looking at those screencaps.. what group did you download? I have pwq and aside from maybe an error or two, they didn’t translate Hanamaru to gold star at least.

Kuro: Why is “Hanamaru” translated to “gold star”?

Well, Hanamaru is a most common score mark in Japanese kindergartens. When the kids do a good job for their homework or something, they get Hanamaru on their transcript. More Hanamaru on transcript, better mark; just like review score on amazon.com… I think the translator thought gold star would be a best replace for Hanamaru.

Urusei Yatsura! :D This show is amazing just for that….Gainax is showing a lot of love to the Classics on this one (y)

Yamamoto-sensei is Waifu of the Season…..and Hii-nya Panda-Cat was übercute.

A hanamaru is what they use for a ‘good job’ mark. Like, in elementary school when you do well, you get a gold star? In Japan, they sometimes do just ‘maru’ (swirls) over the whole paper to show it’s good work, like a giant check mark? And ‘hana’ = flower, so they make it cute for the kids. I’ve never seen them do a hanamaru anywhere else, but I’m no Japanese culture expert. :3

Hope that explains a little why they used ‘Gold Star’. I think keeping it just Hanamaru would have been more effective because they explain what a hanamaru is, don’t they?
