Ookamikakushi 01

This is awesome.

This is not.

This is awesome.

This is not.

That basically sums up my impression of Ookamikakushi. To be more elaborate, it was 3 minutes of awesome followed by 13 minutes of mediocrity and ended with 4 mins of awesome. So… generally speaking, it was about 65% mediocre. Eroge-introduction stage mediocre. Seriously, those 13 mins made me feel like I’m watchin SHUFFLE! or something. I even started imagining the “decision choices” floating up in the middle of the show.

Well, first off the protagonist doesn’t stand out and even admits to it during the show. Mysteriously enough, he finds himself stuck with a tomboy that’s well hinted to be yandere material. He is also amazingly popular with everyone, to the point it becomes scary. Must be that Horo wolf cult plot device they mentioned in the show.

Girl with scythe and Nemuru are the only impetus for me to continue on. That, and Ryukishi07 behind the storyline. I just hope it doesn’t turn in to a Higurashi clone at the end.

P.S. It’s Kobayashi Yu again. Although she can pull off a boy’s voice, I just can’t help but to expect her going batshit insane at any moment. Yandere Emiri Katou should prove to be interesting as well…

    USO DA!
I didn’t think I’d see the day where Ryukishi is behind an actual harem. Then again, Higurashi and Umineko are close, in canon and in fanon (seriously, Battler is the new black. He goes with everyone) He’s probably trolling as usual, though.

Gin, both Higurashi and Umineko are harem series in one way or another, especially considering Higurashi, which clearly is a harem series.

I personally think the series is promising, though lacks the heavy atmosphere of higurashi due to early exposure of the supernatural aspects of it. As for the whole instant popularity thing, it appears to me that it’s something unnatural that will be explained further on. Or maybe a global case of a good morning. Or it’s the town of the glasses fetishists.

The main character could be alot more interesting, yeah, but I guess PEACH-PIT requested that the main character would be a weak boy with glasses. They got a thing for this you know!

Im also hoping this series will be good considering the experience of both of the groups contributing to this story.

I haven’t played the game but i m hoping this series gets dark like ryukishi’s stuff and all these cute characters go insane or something lol.

    @The Hordesma
I meant as stereotypically set up as this. Though this is very Ryukishi style with creating a peaceful setting contrasting with the horror. If I didn’t have the *slightest* inkling that Ryukishi is probably setting us up for a weird trolling, I would have written this off as a harem.

Actually…considering Shuffle’s little surprise twist of character…we’re so getting a yandere.

Overall, let see how it goes over time. Since it’s not an eroge (just a plain ol visual novel), hopefully it won’t be too bad.

Is it only me that thinks the girl with the scythe and Nemuru is the same person? :P They look the same to me… they just have different eyes and hair colours.

@Justine: Isn’t that true of nearly every moe-blob female character design ever?

    1. I’m not a fan of shota
    2. Cute hero is unexceptable
    3. Violence + Moe = Win

well… yea… unless the characters starts to “uso da”. “wahahahaha!” or something along the line. This series just another shit like ‘WISH’.
