Seitokai no Ichizon ends

Seitokai no Ichizon

And thus, ends the black sheep show of the season as well as one of the most enjoyable so far.

Seitokai is really one of those shows that people either love it or hate it to bits, depending on how much of the jokes they can get. Overall I’d say if you have more than 3 years experience of watching anime, you would love it since it pokes fun at a lot of shows, conventions and tropes in Japanese modern visual culture in a extremely fresh and, more importantly, not self-depreciating manner.

The writing is constantly fun and light-hearted, while still managing to insert in some serious moments without detracting from the experience much. The chemistry between the characters are extremely well-done as well, each complementing each other perfectly, resulting in a on-screen experience that doesn’t feel too forced nor too fake. You just naturally melt in to the atmosphere, as if you are part of the show. I think it is these two elements that make this show for me.

Seitokai no Ichizon is, to me, iyashii-kei anime done right, and I’m extremely sad to see it end already. This is one show I wouldn’t mind seeing more of.

Liked: Very much.
Rewatch: Definitely.
Second Season?: Yes, I would like one very much please.

It’s one of those few harems I liked. Except it’s not…or is it?

I say it is, but then again I’m that kind of person.

I actually liked the way the voice actors did in this anime for each character, especially during those gatling-gun exchanges of conversation xD. it’s a refreshing change, and one of the reasons why I keep rewatching the episodes. like the high-speed answering of requests during ep2, the newpaper girl’s younger sister and her creepy doll play xD, everytime mafuyu gets going on her BL love rants, etc. new ed song was hilarious too, mainly cuz it felt like they got the VAs drunk and then had them sing random stuff to match xD

    i’m sad it’s over =(

I liked it for a while, but the jokes started to go way over my head by episode 3. Although that first episode nearly had me on the floor laughing. I’ll re-try it once I can understand more of the jokes :P

This was the only anime this season I was dying to see the next episode for. Don’t know why. But everything else was more of a “oh, it’s out?” kind of reaction.

Best show of Fall 2009. I looked forward to this more than others – it was a lot of fun!

It had one of the more memorable cast of this season. Mafuyu and Chizuru are pretty awesome imo. However, Ken is probably the real star. A harem lead who isn’t an immature retard for once is pretty refreshing.

    i should write this up.

i agree that it’s a bit of the black sheep of this season, but it isn’t the kind of show most people can appreciate. it’s not even just the jokes, but the way it behaves itself.

i’m not sure it’s healing, but it certainly is very, very funny.

DEEN got something right this season; I don’t know what’s going on in Umineko anymore.

@omo: I think it’s “healing” in the sense that this is a slice-of-life anime that doesn’t try to overly glorify a “normal” life. Seitokai’s world just reminds of all the fun times I have with friends while not escaping the fact that real life has its shares of bad things and good things, mostly seen in the episodes where the Shiina sisters are to move away and the drama surrounding Ken’s love drama in middle school.

I don’t know about others but everytime I finish watching an episode, I just get a feeling that life isn’t that bad, which is the kind of feeling I would get after reading Yotsubato! or ARIA.

… and that was an epic Tsundere speech during the walk. It doesn’t help that Nakemeguro is a proto-trap whose appearance (apparently at Mafuyu’s will) triggers some BL flags in Ken.

Maybe Mafuyu managed to steal some of Haruhi’s powers?

It was really much better than what I expected… and it managed to pull all the serious, heartwarming, and constructive stuffs without being corny as well, I was rather disappointed that the serious side of the anime wasn’t explored more….

In the end it was a really funny anime that has me holding my stomach laughing… and not just the reference jokes as well…. It was really sad to see the anime end… let’s hope there’s 2nd season waiting around the corner !
