DtB: Ryuusei no Gemini 04

Darker than Black

a.k.a as the budget-saving ‘bridge’ episode. Seriously this was such as bizzare episode I’d almost think they jumped the shark if I wasn’t prep’ed for it over the last three weeks. In any case, poor Shio-, I mean Suou.

Darker than Black

“Why so serious? Here, let me put a smile on that deadpan mugs of the both of you!”

Darker than Black

“Shake those hips harder!”, says Hei as he trains his personal loli in the ‘basics’.

Darker than Black

And this is the reason why people don’t consume expired food that has been kept in dubious circumstances. Like in the freezer of a bankrupt love hotel. Anyways, Contractors are humans too, nothing shameful about getting mild food poisoning. Just don’t hold it in for so long, Suou!

Darker than Black

Admittedly, July is probably the single most useful character in the show right now, with Petya/Mao in close second. Good to see he picked up some tips about smiling from Yin!

Darker than Black

Is this guy gonna be the joke character of this season? Just like Kurasawa Gai in the first?

Darker than Black

And Misaki almost gets ‘it’ from Hazuki. Oooh, yuri rape prospects huh.

Man, this season of DtB is seriously getting out of hand at times. I don’t know if they are trying to be serious or not, just like the Kurasawa Gai episodes in the original DtB. But at least the story is more consistent now that they aren’t using the two-episode format again. I just hope they don’t leave everything to the subtext like in the first season hurr.

    what is this show and what did they do with the darker than black sequel? doesn’t this kinda really conflict with the whole tone and atmosphere that they spent so very long creating in the first series and throw it out for cheap thrills and fan-service?

    Re: Food poisoning. Watching Raw and BSS Sub, She had her period for the first time. “I’m a woman now” wouldn’t make sense for food poisoning, methink.

    You will never be dominated and abused by a sexy Chinese hobo ;_;

    Period?! Wha-??

    No, it was clearly food poisoning. I think at Suou’s age, she’s already having periods. The “I’m a woman” line is probably her emphasising she isn’t Shion. Plus the context was of her asking about how it feels like to be in love.

    Oh, but then, Mr. Okama did give her some pads at the end of the episode…. so it is a plausible theory.

    Hazuki is delicious.

    As a female, I started thinking from the moment she said her stomach felt funny that she might be getting her period for the first time. She’s 13 right? There are even girls who don’t start til they’re 15. Besides, when Okama gave Suou the pads, he said she just became qualified to board Noah’s Ark.

    Unless expired cup ramen actually turns young girls into women…

    Suou did got her first period. Re-watch the episode again. It should become obvious and more apparent the second time around watching. Suou’s strange feeling she’s keeps wondering about, and the whole Noah’s Ark metaphor, with the transvestite saying that Suou earned the right to board the Ark. And then the tampons…

    Anyways, the episode was enjoyable and pretty good. This episode mostly focuses on character development, which is always good to receive. I don’t see what’s to complain much about. The humor is more or less what S1 had, albeit the execution with the humor is different with a younger lead though. It’s just that the non-serious to serious shift this time around is more radical, is all.

    Yes, I guess that she had a bad combo of eating expired food AND her first period coming for her, on top of being kidnapped by a hobo and forced to learn how to kill.

    Suou better have some karmic returns later for all this.

    I hope that idiot dies (the son of the bar manager or whatever) just like the blonde kid did.

    Belly dancing Suou made me die a little inside. <3

    bad food + period + hobo = I hate you
    and that “I hate you” seems like the base for a love/hate relashionship

    That July pic was hilarious. And Jia Ming, I think you should blog about Kampfer as well. That one has been consistently hilarious! It makes other ‘controversial’ anime look tame.

    Would have to agree that this was a bizarre episodes. As well as Hei being an utter git towards Suou, there was some squirrel/face action and a random transvestite. At least we get to see some post-apocalyptic Japan. Hard to tell where BONES are going with all this; as long as they keep adding a dash of Misaki to each episode, it’s all good.

    …is dat sum loli-beatan animu?

    No seriously, I’d give this a fair try if it didn’t lack Yin so much… ;_;

    A sniper loli and a spotter shota. With Yin and Shion thrown in, Hei could’ve obtained his loli-shota harem.

    hahah. I loved Darker than Black, the first series, and the second series, although more light hearted, is still good in my opinion. I’m glad they kept Hei in it, as he was my favorite character.

    I like this episode but not too much. Seems like it has slowed down and contain more relaxing feel. I remember there were these kind of episodes in the first season as well but considering this series length(12ep), slowing down is not a good idea.
