DtB: Ryuusei no Gemini 02

Darker than Black: Gemini

Oh Hei, I didn’t know you changed your tastes over the past two years!

Right, jokes aside, it sure looks like it’ll be a much more structured story for DtB: Gemini compared to the two-episode method they used first time round. The second episode is pretty much the first episode: part 2, with equal amounts of action, exposition and intrigue. I’m quite liking the new characters that are showing up, although I’ve gotta say the MI6 Contractor turn-over rate is pretty damn high this time round. I’m also quite liking the new Contractor onee-san that nearly pwned Hei in this episode. Wonder who she’s working for…?

Darker than Black: Gemini

I wouldn’t mind giving her a bad aftertaste too, iykwim

Also, OP by Stereopony is pretty good and kinda grew on me. Of course it helps too that it has visuals of Suou wielding a BFG. I’m such a sucker for those.

Darker than Black: Gemini

I never expected Suou to be in to BFG’s….

P.S. I nearly freaked out a bit when people referred to Suou as a guy…. before I realised they were all mistaking him for Shion. I guess I’m more used to having Shion as a girl’s name rather than a boy’s.

“before I realised they were all mistaking him for Shion”

You just mistook poor Suou as a guy too. Tut tut.

I too like the new Contractor onee-san with her payment of kissing someone :D
Also, looking foreword to Susu’s BFG.

    Implying Hei’s tastes ever changed<<

Yeah Hazuki is so damn great. The way she tackled that guy made me laugh harder than any most recent comedy anime.

I agree Shin. I mean he’s been hanging out with Yin right?

    New anime blog get.

Pretty sure Hei has been into loli all along. There was some official artwork somewhere of him and Yin being very… close.

Can’t say that he’s got bad tastes.

I’m glad Hei is still in Darker Than Black 2, though. =D

Oh, I think, I´m already in love with Japanese Lesbian Catwoman… I mean, Hazuki!

But I really hope Yui isn´t really dead!

@Doc: Yui? You mean Yin? Oh geez, I really gotta rewatch DtB S1 when I have a chance. I’ve totally forgotten most of the show except for Misaki in the chinadress.

@Shin: Implying Hei is now more in to active ones than passive ones<< @KunojiLym: Whoops.

Kana Hanazawa is pretty good at doing HNNNGH type characters. Not that it’s anything new I guess. Still, I was sort of surprised to see her be so good at non-passive voice roles.

Just expecting there to be Mion too Kurogane?

I wonder if Hei is the main charaacter in this one though they seem extremely centered on Suou.

I expect Hei to take center stage once they get past Suou’s initial plotline and into the meat of it. It feels like they want to ease new viewers in and remind fans if they can’t be bothered to rewatch season 1. Suou is in the know about Contractors but doesn’t know much more. This gives out some useful information, hints at more depth, and just tells you to enjoy the show. Likewise we have the new Contractors highlight their prices/renumerations. Burger-kun mentions it as soon as he is introduced and we get to watch Mina kiss two people.

Once Suou teams up with Hei (I doubt she won’t), it should shift back to him as the main protagonist. While it would be fun to watch her fool or even fight off Contractors and normals as she searches for her brother, it would also make Contractors incredibly underpowered. Especially when you consider that Hei is Chinese Electric Batman, or is he Chinese Hobo Batman now?

How does the fact that Contractors can be killed with an anti-tank rifle make them in any way underpowered? =x

    I miss Burger-kun already.

And Hanazawa as Suou already got me to watch it. Or maybe it was the anti-tank rifle she was fielding during the opening sequence.

    Suou’s anti-tank rifle strongly resembles a PTRD-41. It’s a Soviet-made WWII-era anti-tank rifle. However, Suou’s version appears to have a Barrett M82A1-style muzzle brake as seen in the intro.
