Negi kept calling Asuna ‘nee-chan’ in his sleep at the start of the series, which
makes this ironic, as he called his cousin Nekane the same thing. Ah, Luke and Leia…

Plus, Chisame and Negi would not only drag the initially unwilling tsundere into a relationship, but be another in-joke referring to the source of her design (Naru). Which is probably why it will never happen.

@Maiku: I suppose that wouldn’t be so much of a problem if you don’t think of it as a romantic kiss. While it IS hinted that Asuna has deep feelings for Negi, bordering on romantic, they usually just stop short of that. Generally, for Asuna it’s more like a sister-brother relationship more than romantic.

Honestly at this point, Chisame x Negi is much more possible. She’s done a LOT more for him than Asuna in terms of supporting him at his weakest moments. I guess it was Akamatsu trying to soften the blow to the readers for the inevitable revelation of Negi and Asuna being related.

After what happened in this chapter, when the thought that Negi and Asuna are related cross my mind, I immediately shut it off until further chapters to solidify things.
