Yeah I agree this was the most obvious censorship in a while. Oh to the days when Gurren Lagann episode 6 did things correctly. It was so blatant in this episode it wasn’t even funny (with the diagonal fog and all). Oh well, at least I still like this show!

Ryoko is actually one of Shiina’s two “lackeys” (the other being Mai Asahina [voiced by Aki Toyosaki - K'ON!'s Yui Hirasawa], a gentle-mannered meganekko)

It’s not so much as a ploy as CrunchyRoll trying to be ‘family-friendly’ I guess since I watched the HorrribleSubs version. And obviously I know it’s a DVD-selling ploy, but it doesn’t really change the fact that it’s annoying and fail. There’s much more better ways to censor everything apart from literally dousing the frames with white tones.

Kurogane, you do realize that this could be a ploy to get people to buy DVDs? They tried that with Strike Witches, Negima!?, Rosario+Vampire, etc. The DVDs did away with the “illuminated bodies” (of Negima!?), the “censor-bats” (made infamous in Rosario+Vampire), “regional physics” (of which the TV run of Strike Witches is notorious for) and whatnot. Even TV-MX’s run is still censored in a few places (though with less steam), so it may end up fully uncut on DVDs (just PROBABLY).

By the way, besides the main cast (led, of course, by the sweet Mamiko Noto who now also does Haruna, the main character of “Lacrosse” (the show within the show) AND as herself), 2 new famous seiyuu finally made their way into the anime – Eri Kitamura (Toradora’s Ami) as Ryoko Sawamura, Mika’s green-haired lesbian(?) friend (y’know, the one in the second picture apparently “skinshipping” Mika. And oh – Rie Kugimiya (yes, the tsundere princess!) does 2 roles – primarily Touka Tennouji (the spoiled, probably tsundere-ish heiress of a family that rivals the Nogizakas in power), and to a lesser extent (but first in appearance), Alistia Rein (Haruka’s mostly speechless loli bodyguard).

Just don’t get it with this season most of the anime is all crunchyroll

oh well just have to wait for a decent group to release
