A slice-of-life show that is original, funny, entertaining and informative without being boring. That’s what my impression of GA Geijutsuka Art Design has been like. It’s pretty much the best show, comedy and entertainment-wise so far from the crop of summer anime, and I already am impressed by quite a number of other shows this season.
Best part about the show is how informative it can be, and from the first two episodes I’ve already learned some interesting bits of trivia just from seeing the characters talk about their lessons. Even better as well they use it as a subject of humor, which kinda makes it stick in your head. Makes it interesting to watch too, compared to the going-nowhere humor of other shows like Hidamari Sketch.
And the characters are really quite a fun bunch, with proper chemistry amongst each other. The main five is a well balanced mix of seniors and rookies covering the gamut with Hocchan, Miyuki Sawashiro, Nazuka Kaori, Haruka Tomatsu and Ai Tokunaga. Amongst them, the ones that stand out the most is of course Tomatsu’s rendition of Kisaragi which had me fooled in to thinking that she was Noto-sama at first. No Mean Feat® I assure you. ‘s matter of fact, it’s really gotten me a new respect for her vocal talents.
The other one is Nazuka Kaori’s deadpan voice as Miyabi a.k.a ‘Kyoju’, since she’s always the straight man. I never knew she could pull off such a deadpan voice, being more accustomed to her “onii-chan~” as Nunally and her performance as the deeply hurt Hiromi. In fact, I don’t think I could recognize her at all in the two episodes I’ve been watching.
Hm, this has turned out to be a pretty long post. Anyways, gotta catch up with the three episodes. Can’t really rely on Ayako, can we?
