Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensou

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensou

Best rendition of Koi no Mikuru Densetsu ever. It so sounds like some FF-battle theme song now, LOL. As expected from Tokyo Philharmonic.

Probably the more worthwhile Suzumiya Haruhi merchandise to come out, as all music sounds awesomely epic when played by a full orchestra. Not to mention the cool pic of Yuki playing the violin on the cover.

Definitely a solid album. I’m about halfway through with it and the tracks are fairly enjoyable. The only aim now is to go back through the Haruhi soundtrack releases to jog my memory and figure out how well the pieces in their original form managed to come over into the album.

The vocals were…unnecessary. Nice for fans, but…

Listened to this; I agree with Asrialys that the vocalization is better off being replaced by purely orchestral sounds. Still, this is really a great album, the best I’ve come across in a LONG time (maybe the last one was Wind – Inuyasha Symphonic Theme Collection, performed by New Japan Philharmonic). The orchestration techniques are very fascinating, and full of creativity in their deviations from the original songs.

I also thought some “karaoke” versions would be good. But overall a great album.

Amen, Gensou is a very worthy purchase, the orchestra version of Koi no Mikuru no Densetsu was appropriately awe-inspiring. Though, Chihara Minori belting out Yuki’s character song was a little surprising, as it didn’t quite synched with the orchestra.

Oh wow… this orchestration… it makes it sound so EPIC!

This seems like last episode music as the soldiers happily march along preparing some huge beam cannon to blow the crap out of something… or maybe this would make good epilogue music?

epicness. this version is awesome! though, since it is an orchestra, it lacks the extra ‘kick’ the original could provide.
