Shangri-La is…

… Al-Gore sponsored anime? It’s a show that has carbon tax levied on all nations, carbon credit hedge funds and a fucking Carbon Police. Not to mention the eyerape of okama supporting leads, one of which uses whips and kisses to disarm opponents and suspiciously sounds like Jouji Nakata. The credits only write ♥♥♥ for the role… but if it’s true.. OH DEAR GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

… I need some time to recover from this show.

I watched the show but had no idea what really went on. There are plenty of eyerape characters in the show, not just okamas.

Why is Gonzo bad?…..ahh wait….they did Samurai 7…..nevertheless, I think this show looks pretty good so far, the first episode lost me slightly, but not much, I kinda just wanna see more boomerang girl. She’s cool.

I’ll confess, I had to stop watching after these “Okamas” (had to google the word to see if I was thinking of the same thing) appeared so a few minutes is all I got. It was just too much for me, the thin one I felt I could just about live with it but the other……man I had to save myself from dislodging my own eyeballs.

From what I’ve read as to what went on afterwords I probably did myself a favour.

I do like boomerang girl. She’s so cute. I heart range murata character so much. Also, i love the shoes lol. I want a pair.

the show itself is a little meh.reminds me a bit of last exile

I didn’t get most of the episode either. Basically I was 10 minutes in and then it occurred to me they had dumped us in the deep end of the pool, plot-wise. Or Crunchyroll’s subs subtly sucked (‘subtly’, because I didn’t detect a lot of suckage).

But at this stage, I am willing to give it some rope. I know, the anime works on the basis of a carbon economy, but I don’t think that automatically justifies calling it out as green propaganda. If you actually look into how it’s structured, it does not treat the idea as the holy grail, like some greenie fundamentalists do. The ones who control the carbon economy are in the anime seen as the military and economic elite who oppress and manipulate those who choose not to be part of the carbon regime (much like the Guild in Last Exile?).

Furthermore, the carbon economy is seen to be complex and almost fraudulent in nature, based as much off corruptible numbers as the Dow Jones. The pink haired boomerang girl (one episode in, I haven’t even absorbed the names yet) is part of a faction which opposes the carbon overlords (to a degree, though she seems to show some concern regarding the economy).

The fact that you seem to use the studio doing the show as your ultimate measure of whether you like it or not is really starting to remind me of a certain Derailed blog (especially the bizarre upswing in Gonzo and Sunrise bashing). You know, like I can already predict exactly how much you will bash a show or praise it depending on who is doing it before you even get down to watching it and how the actual content of it just doesn’t seem to matter.

Though if that is how you want to do things be my guest, but as a preview series this is starting to get a little silly.

@Kaoishin-sama: Read properly. Where did I even mention anything about any studio in my post? The okama is eyerape enough for me, no matter which studio is producing, and that’s it. I haven’t said anything about the plot or production quality or whatsoever.

    Read properly next time.

haiz… the damn twit was probably talking about your previous posts, kuro…. and there really isn’t anything wrong bashing a studio ( consistently bas and rubbish has gonzo produced… yet we watch because we like the story yadyadayada…)

Jouji Nakata indeed the chunky one also sounded suspiciously like Hochu Ohtsuka a.k.a. Jiraiya. All they are missing is Norio Wakamoto and they’d have the awesome old guy voiced okama trio.

Rather than being Al Gore-sponsored, it’s more like an attack on him and the sort of tyranny imposing carbon regulation could cause. Though more generally, it’s an attack on governments that are too big for their britches.

Huh, whenever I hear the op, I think of Sheryl; also, Omamori Himari is getting an anime adaptation. I hope. http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh419/dtshyk/jb5434.jpg

Zand: That’s because it’s May’n singing the OP. (May’n being the one who provided the singing voice for Sheryl.)
