Full Metal Alchemist is…

… a Sunrise show now?! Oops, sorry, it’s still BONES right? I nearly got thrown off by the spoiler-tastic YUI OP, gSS speedsubbing it and Lockon (Shinichiro Miki) + Ali (Kenji Fujiwara) combo of Maes and Roy. So weird to hear them playing best friends after just wrapping up a show where they were both enemies. That said, Shinichiro Miki just doesn’t match up to Toru Ohkawa. Roy’s supposed to sound GAR obnoxious, not bishie!

One great seiyuu change they made has to be Inoue Kikuko as Lust. Ooohhh, I got goosebumps just hearing her evil voice again as Lust at the end of the episode. Dunno how Winry will sound like though. Fumiko Orikasa’s Riza Hawkeye sounds much more sarcastic than serious in her only line of the episode, but it’s something that I might really like.

Overall, the first episode is pretty okay, with another anime-original plot to go with it as an introduction to the characters. They are still going to do it the flashback way though, with the second episode jumping immediately back to “that day”.

And glad to see ol’Armstrong still as FABULOUS as usual… ahaha~

brb, I’m going to go Armstrong pose in the mirror at the local grocery store while invading customers’ personal space… FULL EFFECT OF FABULOUS IS AWESOME!

No really, I’m going to watch this now, hopefully it’ll restore my eyes from the QUALITY that was Kiss on my Deity raw (wasn’t that bad, honest).

Roy isn’t GAR… he’s cool (or pretends to be) and condescending (to Ed), but not that GAR imo.

Yeah Armstrong was pretty funny as always. And we certainly got our fill of short jokes for the week.

Anyone else notice the strange textures on some of backgrounds? I’m pretty sure I recognized some of those photoshop brushes…

Overall though, it seemed to be okay, but different. Maybe I’m just used to the old version’s style of animation, it seems strange to see everything animated with a lot more “hard contrast” colors, while the old version was a lot more soft shading techniques with it’s background art style. The whole thing seems more “Cartoonish.” That and Ed’s colored hair outline, probably just takes some getting used to.

The old antics of Armstrong’s Muscles, Ed’s shortness and Roy’s stubbornness never fails to amuse me :3 WELCOME BACK FMA!!!!!!!

The actual difference between BONES and Sunrise is not as vast as people seem to think. They’re essentially sister studios and share staff picks all the time. As such the art, sound and design director for FMA2 are the same as for Gundam 00 for example and the script is written by the same guy that did MS Igloo. Wouldn’t surprise me if casting was done by the same person that worked for 00 as well.

I understand why they had to make a new opening story, as the first series had a very faithful adaption of the original it would be kind of strange to make another version of it being an exact copy. However, this replacement must be quite confusing for first timers, in comparison to the original.

Also, I noticed Armstrong’s sparkles changed from pink to reddish orange. Manlier?

I wonder how they will make the stomach scene, if you know what I mean.

Looks like it’s off to a great start.

    – All the characters are still funny and suitably badass.

    – I like Roy’s new voice.

    – Al seems to be more active when he fights with Ed.

    – Orange Sparkles are just as good as pink ones!

    – Hughes is alive! (maybe it will stay that way this time)

    – The most obvious branch off from the other stories (besides the ice alchemist monster of the week) is that Ed and Al missed their trip to Liore, which was a pretty major plot point in both the other anime and the manga.

it’s a great show… yeah, like I know that already!

anyways, major Armstrong really a good comedian… oh I guess I want to marry his sister… but first I’ve got to be like him (like the ?ell I could be like him!)

oh well, I guess, now that the gang is back, would there be another change…

I just hope, that Alphosnse had to be an armor just to call his brother the “Fullmetal”… or just like that.

I wish I could also do alchemy just like them.

    anyways, Welcome back!
