The World’s Most Influential Person according to TIME Magazine.

Is apparently moot. Yes, moot. No I am not fucking kidding you. It’s 4chan’s moot. And in second place is Anwar Ibrahim LOL! That’s even more unbelievable than moot! Hell, Obama’s 37th on the list, ROFL.

Seriously what?! Next time, stick to pen-and-paper, dear TIME Magazine. Article can be found here: http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1894028,00.html

Update: Details of the hack can be read here, well played /b/. mARBLECAKE ALSO THE GAME for sure.

Gurren Lagann Movie – Guren-hen

So the much awaited movie is out. Yeah it’s about 80% recycled footage, but the last 20% of the show was actually new stuff and consisted of the Four Generals getting their ass beaten up by the Gurren-dan. Considering that it’s a rehash movie, it’s actually pretty nice to have some new content, but the fight still felt really ‘summarized’… as if they cut and pasted it around. I can almost see the Director’s Cut edition with ’30 mins of new footage!’ coming out already.

But there was one awesome part they added, namely Yoko getting a bit more screentime, going mano-a-mano with her gun against Adiane. It was quite refreshing to see her fighting melee since she’s a sniper and her mini-showdown with Adiane was really impressive… to the point of her bra getting ripped off. Awesome timing for fan service there, Gainax.

Now another year or so wait for the Lagann-hen. I want to see what they are gonna do for the ending. The series ending is pretty much cemented in legends already so can they top it off or will they totally ruin it?

Chihara Minori at DaiCon!

Chihara Minori

The DaiCon event I reported earlier has announced their special guest after some speculation amongst locals and it turns out to be Miss Chihara Minori!

Famed for her role as Nagato Yuki in Suzumiya Haruhi and Minami Chiaki in Minami-ke as well as a really good singer, she will be holding a Q&A Panel and a Mini-Concert at DaiCon!

It’s the first time a personality of this level has come to Malaysia, and I believe it’s also her first ever South East Asia visit as well. It’s a pretty big step forward for local fans here, and after AFA 08 set the ball rolling, I hope to see more events of this caliber being held. Will I be able to get my wish of meeting Noto-sama here granted one day? Who knows….

Anyways, for more information, visit DaiCon’s homepage at http://www.daiconnews.com.

Hatsukoi Limited is…

… what Kimikiss ~pure rouge~ could’ve been. Well, okay, it’s not fair to compare them both, but goddammit, the show is so clearly superior compared to that. Why?

Hatsukoi Limited

Saki-nee (voiced by Rie Tanaka) is why.

Oh god, is this like Rie’s revival season? Three HAWT roles in one season! Meido Maria, Bionic Woman Kurosaki and now ‘Oh god I want to be her child hood friend’ Yamamoto Misaki. Plus, the show also has Itou Shizuka as a hawt middle-school chick too. Dear god, why didn’t I watch this show earlier?!

Am so joining the Saki-nee fanclub. Where do I sign up?

Never knew hand soaps were that powerful

Hayate no Gotoku

Isumi can be oh-so-cute whenever she’s always wanted to be taken seriously. ‘Hand soap’ power, LOL.

Hayate no Gotoku

And Hinagiku has finally developed some resistance(?) to Hayate’s charms.

Finally wrapped up another mini-arc. Next one should be the Hayate being nursed by Maria story, but the preview instead shows a shot of Nishizawa hugging Hayate. Are they immediately skipping straight to the Valentine’s arc?

DaiCon – A celebration of Japanese Modern Visual Culture

By now I am pretty sure everyone has seen the DaiCon web banner and/or noticed the DaiCon link on my sidebar, so what is it about?

DaiCon

Well, basically it’s another Malaysian ACG event (or another anime con as Americans call them) and it’s being held in the Grand Hall of the Multimedia University, Cyberjaya branch on the 11th and 12th of July, which is about 2 and a half months later.

Currently event slated to be held there include the customary cosplay competition, a karaoke competition (this one’s gonna be fun), figurine exhibitions by The Figure Mall and Macross Fans Malaysia and a Go (Shogi) showcase as well. It’s quite a good mix between old and new and it’s clear that DaiCon is set out to be different from the usual ACG events being held quite frequently here nowadays.

As their tagline says, it’s a celebration of Japanese Modern Visual Culture and their organizer has frequently expressed desire to not just include the usual anime and manga, but also J-pop, J-rock, and J-anything fans so they are preparing the event to be one of a kind over here in Malaysia. I’m pretty hooked by it and hope that they’ll live up to their promises.

Other bloggers covering the event have also expressed the possibility of a special guest coming in from Japan as well, with guesses ranging pretty widely from Shiraishi Minoru (HUH?!), Aya Hirano (LOLWUT?) and Chihara Minori. Personally if you ask me, it’s gonna be confirmed when it’s announced and I’m hoping it’d be Noto-sama or Kawasumi Ayako. I’d probably die from happiness if I got to meet them both.

Well, all in all, I’d probably be attending the event, since it’s being held so near me and as well to see if they live up to their promises. Keep an eye out here for further updates regarding the event.
