I gotta 2x everything. I'm glad they stuck so close to the novel (even if they didnt use the EXACT lines, I think they came up with some good ones on there own, although Ami expressing verbally how much she loves being around everyone would have been nice instead of funneling it down to 'if one person understands me.....'). (on a side note I was an amiXruuji person for most of the anime)

And I dont think I would have liked the ending if they would have left it open (like in said manga). Special A, Ichigo 100%, FRUITS BASKET, all had crappy endings becuase they left things unresolved. This ending resolved it. But then again, taiga comming at the BEGINING of the semister and kinda giving that whole, i fixed everything but theres not a snowballs chance in hell im gonna leave you lonely in our last year in high school together.

But oh well, so he had to go through a year of lonely nights crying himself to sleep with a pint of hagendas and the lifetime channel stearing him through, ruuji and taiga made it, and thats what counts!

come on.... who didn't BAWWW at the end...
It was lovely... last time i could really do that was at the end of Honey & Clover (bittersweet ne?) and mebbe Ai yori Aoshi ( Diabeetus in 2 seasons desu~) ... I have to say that... I am disappointed that Ami's and Minorin's roles are somewhat reduced in the anime but shippers can't be choosers...
Glad to say that the novels serve to ENHANCE viewing pleasure... rather than detract from it..

Well like I said, JC Staff only had an outline to go with for the last 2-3 episodes, didn't expect the dialogue to be the same.

@man0warr:

I dunno about the novel, but in the last episode there was specifically a line that stated she wanted it to be love (in what better place than a gym storage).

Ami to Ryuuji(paraphrasing a lot): I hated myself for always acting like an adult. But as long as there was just one person that understands me...it felt like everything was going to be all right. Even if it wasn't love.

Then again Ami never went teary-eyed in the anime either so it may very well be the biggest difference between the anime and the novel.

I think it was changed at the end more because the novel leaves itself open to potential short stories/expansions in the future should the author feel like picking up the pen again while the show doesn't have the benefit of doing that, it had to be a conclusive ending so they couldn't just have them get back together at the beginning of the new semester.

Yeah re-read it, was only like 2 months. From Roan's spoiler:

"Then, 2 months later, the first day of his 3rd-year at school, he bumps into Taiga. Turns out that Taiga's able to stay in town on the condition that she looks after her baby brother (but this is for 1 year only). Some more awwwwwww moments and Taiga and Ryuuji walk to school, holding each other's hands while they're both dreaming up a happy future where they're living together."

Taiga and Ryuuji only spend like a month and a half apart in the novels. She comes back for the beginning of third year. Sort of her saying there's no way in hell she's going to wait that long.

I suppose they thought this was more dramatic though. Whatever, I'm still happy.
