Silver, you can't be serious ^_^;

Index manga and anime have Touya preaching until my head hurts. Index is barely more than a hungry moeblob. The "explanations" of magic are terrible. The fights are trivial and boring (Touma hits things with his hand *yawn*). And alot of the comedy fails to convince me.

Railgun has the more diverse and interesting characters (not just Mikoto and Kuroko, but also the other girls), more humor, less boring exposition and much more interesting battles. Touma turns into a really likable guy.

In my point of view, Railgun rates 1-2 levels above Index.

@ Rawr

Can't really say that the manga did a surperior job compared to the anime. The thing is that the anime chose to follow the novels rather than the manga. The manga was more aimed at being more actions than techno babble and plots. So if you could say, blame the producers for choosing to adapt the main source of the series than adapting the manga which itself is an adaptations of the novels.

Well... check the manga for those of you who think that the novels couldn't be adapted well. Having not read the novel, I expected pacing along the lines of the manga. IMO, if the techno babble had any relevance to the story, then maybe the anime did a great job compared to the manga, but imo, most of the techno babble could have been skipped, which is exactly what the manga did and it didn't miss a beat with regards to the plot.

The manga imo does a superior job to the anime in terms of pacing, and skipping boring expositions. It might be because of the medium itself, but the techno babble didn't seem as out of place or awkward in the manga. They blasted right through index's arc in like 1 volume, and skipped Himegami for Accelerator for volume 2. Touma's also is a lot more gar in the manga than in the anime probably because they skip a lot of whining on his part and just go right to the ass kicking.

Oh yeah, I don't know why but I feel like I'm liking Laura Stuart here. Not only the voice but the designs and chara seems to somehow catch my attention. From what I heard though, she's very calculating or something like that though.

@ Mentar

Naw. I find both of them about the same actually. However, seeing Mikoto more was nice but plotwise, they're about the same. The thing about the Index one is that there is somewhat more variety of characters as well as having different organizations play in the plot.

"I can’t wait for new Shakugan no Shana, which hopefully will come out this fall."

Don't count on it, there isn't much more source material to animate, need a few more novels to come out first.

The Railgun manga is way superior compared to the Index original storyline. I'm absolutely delighted to see it animated :)

Agreed that the show as a little hit and miss because of all the long-winded speeches, but overall it was enjoyable.

and yes, Railgun railgun railgun!!!
