Minami-ke Okaeri 01

Minami-ke Okaeri

“Okaerinasai, Minami-ke!”

Finally, Okaeri’s back with the usual Minami-ke (I) humor. I’m so glad it’s not like Okawari. That said, I’m lol’ing at Artefact’s misleading article about it, but I’m happy to report it’s just the usual blown-out-of-proportion post.

Pretty much all the old humor’s back, and Takeru-ojiisan even makes a customary appearance. Poor guy just never seems to be taken seriously. I’ve gotta say though, his “dowsing” pen is quite accurate, ho ho. Lol’ed at the part when Kana asks him to find her future husband, and it points towards Fujioka. Will they ever get together?

Of course, kimochiwarui Hosaka-senpai is still around….

@anon: Bad animation as usual, but otherwise most of the episode was fine.

Got to love Haruka though, for me. :)

so… I guess the complains I read about from others, about the art quality… is true huh?

Art is horrible. just watch the part where Kana was face-rubbing uchida. That art is beyond horrible. Feels like it was drawn by a bunch of amatuers. Bad angles, so-so color palettes, VERY bad character designs (chiaki looks like a wooden doll

Another bad thing about this episode was some of the bgm. Those god-awful strings really destroyed the mood of the scene. Never really noticed this before, but it IS possible to totally ruin a scene with horrible music. Eg, the matsuri scene. Heck, they could’ve used bg sounds of cicadas and insects and people’s voices, and it would have still been 10 times better than the awful bgm.

This is probably great for a minami ke fan. But otherwise, it has very little to offer in terms of visuals, audio, and jokes. Only question now is, how long can they continue to flog a dead horse before they’re forced to abandon it.

Made me laugh…without subs. The only thing I’ve noted as missing is the “serious” faces from the previous seasons. Haruka gets quite clearly into “serious” Banchou mode at one point, but the close up on the realistic eyes was missing.

The only time I really noticed the BGM was when it too made me laugh. The use of 1970s funk in the right places just cracks me up.

[…] Gott, was haben sie nur aus Minami-ke bzw. aus Haruka Oneesama gemacht? Ich könne heulen. Wie man liest, ist der Humor anscheinend immerhin wieder auf dem Niveau der genialen ersten Staffel. Wie man […]

The art is aweful, but yeah, I can feel the old humour again!

    So I think I can bear the terrible art and still enjoy the new season.^^;
(But why does the serie change the studio?)

If one recalls, two studios did the first two seasons at the same time. Domu and Asread. Domu set the pace and introduced us to the characters and style. Asread did the second season and attempted to be original…they partly failed. Yes they had some funny moments after they got the pacing down a little (and probably got pointers from Domu), but they also attempted misplaced drama.

Now in this season, we are still watching a Asread produced show, but they’ve shifted to be closer to Domu’s style.

Question is…what is Domu doing instead of this? Would it be better with Domu, or will Asread deliver this season.

I think I read somewhere that asread’s doing the production again but the story and direction is being handled by Doumo.

I’m not so sure if that’s accurate though, but it would be for the best if that’s the case. Can’t take more of asread’s fucking up.

They got some of the directors from the first season to handle storyboarding and directing this time around, so hopefully we won’t be seeing another anime-original like Fuyuki once again. I do like how they used the ‘dowsing’ chapter for this one, especially since Chiaki thought so little about it… until he found Fujioka the Bear.

Now outside of some weird art issues, this was pretty good… certainly better than Okawari was for the first half, or the middle part for that matter. And no blackened faces.. yet.

Why did they change the studio anyway? I have not read any statement about this at all. Think I’ll skip Okawari, hopefully Okaeri brings back the “old” humor at last.

Finally got round to watching the ep and yeah… the cheek-pinching scene… terrible…
But hey, the ep ended off with Hosaka! :D

    M-I-N-A-M-I-K-E, LET’S GO!!!

Its a different director this time around and the sound director is from the first season… (source ANN)

I hope this season redeems the horror that is Okawari…
There is no Okawari… Okawari is a lie… It does not exist…

Lol, okawari wasn’t good but i didn’t think it was that bad either xD Okaeri (how aptly named) seems to be off to a good start.

…. but the first season’s OP is still the best :P

It seems even cheaper looking than Okawari (which I didn’t mind)..

While it’s still funny, I rewatched ep 1 of the first series, and it was so depressing to realise that the studio doing it now simply wouldn’t be capable of things like “Kana’s Bullet Time Leap Onto The Table”
