Akane-iro goes for the (W)Incest end.

Akane-iro Somaru Saka

Well, yeah, as the title goes. Junichi went for his little sister instead of rich tsundere Yuuhi. It was pretty expected seeing how last week’s episode went.

I don’t disagree with it but they could’ve paced the last episode a bit better. Dragged out the “internal conflict” drama in Junichi quite a bit. The parents are still pretty damn “WTF?!” though.

Also according Guncannon™ Surveys, 65% of Japan went “GOOD END!”. What about you? Do you agree with this ending?

I thought this series was focused on Yuuhi?! And didn’t Junichi just kiss her or something a few eps back?! WTH HAPPENED??!!!

Oh, shit, Kuro, you just ruined the ENTIRE series for me. What the hell, man? I mean, I don’t watch this series or even plan to even in my lifetime, but still.

I wanted Wikipedia to spoil it for me. What you did is basically Spoiler Rape me.

    I’ll never forget this humiliation.

I would rather see Junichi with Yuuhi than Minato, though I’m not sure exactly why. I don’t mind incest in anime mainly because it lacks the social consequences that happens in reality. However, if feel bad for Yuuhi. :( Oh yeah, an there were quite a few moments in the course of the show that seems to hint at a non-blood relation between Minato and Junichi but guess that was a false trail.

From the scene it feelt like Da Capo all over for me so I would have been more suprised if they had made it end with Yuuhi.

Personally I don´t have anything against either of em. Both look great so it would have been a win-win situation for me :)

I need to catch up on this…

  10. Heero Yuy Said,

    Darn it all…

Kugimiya Rie finally does a fairly normal tsundere character that’s pretty cool, and this happens. Minato is one of the most boring people in the show and is pretty flat as a character (by this I mean being dynamic, not referring to her chest size). I mean, if she was as cool as Kaede from Shuffle, that would have been one thing, but jeez…

  11. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    December 19, 2008 @ 9:24 pm

It’s funny but everytime Kugimiya does a good, likable tsundere role, she never wins the main character’s heart.

It’s only when she goes abusive tsuntsundere…. shrugs.

What a shame- I really grew to like Yuuhi and Minato seemed like the generic perfect younger sister.

  20. justsomeguy Said,

Minato would be Junichi’s sister no matter what. If Geno Killer had chosen Yuuhi, wouldn’t he have gotten both of them?

The only good thing about this ending is that Yuuhi’s asshole father loses… for now.

  21. Ritsuka Said,

    December 20, 2008 @ 5:37 am

I didn’t watch the show, just like, 3 episodes I think, but I wanted to know how it ended. Someone mentioned True Tears, while I loved the ending, the girl that wasn’t chosen won something as well and grew and stuff…I was wondering if the same happened here? Like I really disliked Minato for being plain boring and so typically sweet and the perfect girl-sister etc., sooo, did Yuuhi grew as a character or gained something from the whole anime then? It is pretty weird, from the begining I though she was the obvious choice, since she even went to live with him and stuff.

  22. Kraker2k Said,

I’m glad I didn’t watch this abomination. I was right when I thought it would be yet another crappy harem eroge adaptation. It feels good to be right.

  23. Halcyon Said,

    December 20, 2008 @ 6:29 am

I thought the ending was good but how they got there was very awkward.

They never really built up any tension between Juniichi and Minato. In the last few episodes it pretty much looked like a lock for Yuuhi until the end of episode 10.

I, for one, am glad to see that someone OTHER than the token Tsundere finally gets the guy in the end.

Usually, the rule of thumb is the first non-related girl that the guy meets/bumps into will win the guy in the end. It’s nice to see Akane Iro join the ranks of Shuffle! and other atypical harem comedies, although they could’ve done a better job of character development.

Throwing in Ayanokouji as a “love rival” at the end and showing brief glimpses of interest from the secondary characters without any real interaction with the main guy kind of made for a watered down harem.

All in all, I’m satisfied with the end.

  25. Keiya Said,

While I like it when girls other than the tsundere gets the man, this show is just not one of those shows. Just when I thought that the show would gear towards a good end and avoid being a sucky, low-budget anime with a good voice cast and song-whoring, it totally flips and cops out.

I share everyone’s sentiments in that like Taiga, Yuuhi is one of the few Rie Kugimiya tsundere roles that are beyond just being a cruel bully. Plus, her character was greatly fleshed out in the story, so why the hell would they end it with the no-personality, zero characterization, Stepford Wife of a Anicon Mary Sue Minato?

Besides, am I the only one who’s grossed out by the fact that it’s incest? Disgusting, staffers. Go crawl back into your holes and kill yourselves.

For those who haven’t watched this anime, don’t watch it. I think I wasted the 6 hours of time I spend on it.

  38. manga Said,

Da Capo with Nemu wasn´t bloodrelated…
Canvas 2 was with a cousin.

What I know of this in the original game is the only occurance of twincest.

Myssa Rei: So because they are blood-related in the game they have to bring it over to the anime adaption?

Minato says it herself that they aren´t blood related in the anime and then tries to joke it of. Yuhi believes her, somehow I don´t :p

So sure, by game standards it´s incest and everything. By anime adaption standards it´s the typical thing.

I´m an only child, sure I want a sibling. Doesn´t have to be a sister though, could as well be a brother. Just to have someone to talk to and argue with for the lulz of it.

However I somehow got a mixed feeling in this series, although i pretty much guessed that is Minato’s win (Genokiller just can’t live without her) however I do hope to give Yuuhi a chance.

Sigh… baka na ano otoko, if I were him I definitely choose Yuuhi, and at the same time staying with Minato longer and then pull out some stunts like School days or Shuffle. What a let down, I was expecting some showdown >_>

But yea, while Da Capo works for me, Canvas is a let down. This one wasn’t bad but when comes to anime like incest, Da Capo has to be the best~! ^^ (Coz is long enough for entertainment ^^)

I didn’t like the ending at all. Yuuhi is a pretty awesome character (with “I’ll have you dead!” my favorite catchphrase of the season), but I guess this was coming considering how episode 11 played out.

Although I’m not completely sure if this is Wincest at all. From what his dad may or may not have said, there can be a few possibilities.
    1) Minato really isn’t his biological sister (Cruel Intentions anyone?)
    2) Minato is really an alien/robot who is really just there as a ‘test’ for Yuuhi by her crazy dad and a ‘test’ for Junichi by his crazy parents and that weird red haired girl.

  48. The Hordesman Said,

Myssa: I have no problems with incest at all, in any way except maybe child-adult related issues. And I do have a younger brother, and I STILL consider it okay if someone swings that way.
People seem to have issues with this simply because they see their own brother/sister in character X’s place. Since I don’t, I guess I am a superior breed.
    All bow before me.

Still think the local tsundere would win though.

I finally got around to finishing the series. Considering how much I liked the first 10 episodes with the junichi+yuuhi direction, I’d say it was a bad end.

Right from the first episode I always liked Yuuhi and thought that they were doing a good job developing her relationship with junichi. Even the filler episodes were pretty good. LOL But then they completly changed direction in the last 2 episodes and ruined the series. It was almost like the producers just changed thier minds at the last minute. I felt sad for Yuuhi at the end. She was one of my favorite charachters this season.

  52. aeriolewinters Said,

Who cares if they’re not blood-related!? Minato fails as a Imouto for Harems. If she wanted Junichi, she should’ve went Kanako Urashima on him a LOONG LOONG Time Ago….

  53. MinatoFan Said,

    December 25, 2009 @ 2:24 pm

As you can see from my name, I think Junichi chose the right girl. The only reason it doesn’t seem that way was bcuz there was no build-up towards it. But in the last episode we see that the whole reason Junichi changed from being a Geno Killer was bcuz of his cute sister.

I’ll agree with everyone though that the whole getting to the ending was not done well at all. There was hardly any build-up and they barely provided any hints for Junichi and Minato along the way.

But for what’s it worth with the whole 180 turn ending, at least it was unexpected right? Everyone watching is like “ok, it’s obviously Yuuhi, then BAM, Wincest FTW.” And c’mon, the last few episodes were pretty emotional. Kudos to the voice actors.

BTW i agree with The Hordesman. Everyone bow down.
