Quite standard fare considering the source material, then again, I’m only interested in the show because of Gainax at the helm. Story is changed from the manga, but still retains the same structure. Major difference is having Oori Kagami becoming the main point of view of the series instead of the Makina-Keisei pairing. Action was also pretty so-so, nothing worth shouting out for.
Interestingly, Hocchan plays an obaasan character in this as well as a mysterious cat that’s following Oori and even narrates the preview for us. So she’s actually quite prominently heard in the first episode. The obaasan character was kinda lulz, it’s weird hearing Hocchan’s voice from someone that looks the wrong side of 40, y’see. Well, she’s also approaching that age herself, XD.
Speaking of the voice work, both Oori and Makina are being done by two relatively new seiyuus, Tatsuya Hosome and Nana Akiyama respectively. Both of them sound a bit wooden, which seems to be a common problem of new seiyuus lately, but it’s not too bad.
Angela provides for the OP and ED, but we only get the ED this week. It’s standard angela fare, but I don’t seem to be taking an instant liking to it. Perhaps after a few more listens.
