Nodoka has already nailed it. The whole point of her magic ring is that as long as she points it at some one and asks “What is your name?”, the demon inhabitting the ring immediatelytells her the persons true name. So basically, even if Fate is an alias, by now, Nodoka would already have the the true name she needs to read his mind.

Really, go back to the chapters where she was captured by those bounty hunters. You can see the ring at work there.

And why Kotaro should know it? The were mercenaries for the third party, not friends or collegues.

Kotarou was just pure awesomeness in this chapter. I still wonder what Nodoka’s trying to do though… name crap.

Princess… so let’s get to the part where Asuna starts bombarding Negi about why she’s being called the “Princess.” =D

I agree with Sage straight to the term – Nodoka’s ability is broken. There’s no way that winning against Fate could be that easy… and then there’s the whole thing about it possibly being an alias at that. Then, there’s the safety issue of Nodoka even being anywhere near Fate… seeing as how he barely missed impaling Setsuna, I don’t think Nodoka’s reactions could save her even if she could mind read it fast enough with her artifact.

…but then again, it’s a manga :D fun stuff, stories are.

Also, Nodoka’s trick will probably end up being blocked, or Fate might disable her somehow. Her ability is broken plot-wise when used against the (current) main boss.
