Actually on-topic, I haven’t seen Zegapain but it’s on my to-watch list. I’ll get around to it eventually. Same goes for VOTOMS and its offspring.

Infinite Ryvius is a pretty good series, if still full of certain Taniguchi quirks you can continue to detect throughout his later work.

The whole anime industry needs fewer sequels and adaptations and more quality original ideas, but I’d say Sunrise is one of the least guilty parties among it’s peers for this. Most of their shows still come from in studio ideas after all. I mean they aren’t great at everything and have some issues with biting off more then they can chew, but they’re out there doing more for originality then companies like J.C Staff, Kyoani and Toei to name a few. All of those companies also seem to have what Kurogane describes as “market taint” on their products. The whole anime industry is pretty much a product of marketing desires I would say.

Anyway, I know a lot of people hated Xenoglossia (which Digikerot brought up), but that’s an example of some creative licence in an industry that seems like it’s increasingly trying to play it safe. I can’t think of another company who would be so bold as to turn a game about happy singing and dancing into a melodramatic mecha series. Again not the greatest stuff in the world, but at least they’re sort of trying new ideas.

Though I would like to see the Mai franchise come to a swift end. Enough is enough….

R2 has begun to show signs of poor plot development now that these so-called plot twists aren’t even surprising anymore. Characters are often dismissed (read: killed) before the viewer can even develop any kind of emotional attachment to them. Not that R2 isn’t entertaining, but there seems to be wasted potential.

Point being, Sunrise needs fewer sequels and more quality, original ideas.

Actually what I meant with the “farce” is the joke that the Bandai marketing dept. executives have been “barging” in to the creative department of Sunrise, causing them to go nonsensical on the plots at times. I must have been not clear about it, but I’m not actually insinuating that Geass R2 is as bad as GSD was.

Anyways, misunderstandings have been made, so I hope this clears it up. And no, I’m not out for “online cred” among the blogging crowd. What I type here is mainly my own opinions.

(Personally though, if I were to gain “online cred”, I’d be taking the Sankaku Complex way and start posting my doujin collections online rather than the DrmChsr0/mike/Lolikit way of trolling everyone.)
