Ala Alba DVD 01 GET!

Oh darn. My love-hate relationship with Kinokuniya Books is reaching a crescendo of sorts. What was supposed to be a nice, routine trip to Kino for me to check some books out eventually ended up with me buying this:

Negima Ala Alba

Yeah, the Negima Ala Alba OAD #1 set bundled with vol. 23. It was really funny because I was joking to myself right before going to the manga shelves about Kino actually bringing the set in because two days earlier, I checked and it was out of stock. Then I turned in to the manga “N” shelf and went, “Oh. Shit.” After intensive scrutiny of nearly half an hour pacing the Japanese section, I decided to go for broke and buy it. Now I’m nicely RM 180.20 in credit card debt hell, orz.

That said, it’s a pretty nice set I guess, containing tankouban #23, the DVD itself, a hard box to store the other 2 DVD’s graced with a nice piece of Akamatsu’s art and Kazumi’s Pactio card, all put in to one unassuming box. Pretty much worth it for me, since I am collecting the tankouban volumes (still need to get vol 19-22) and with all the nice extras. I like the quality on the Pactio card especially. Now I’m officially one of the two persons in Malaysia to own the Ala Alba DVD, assuming the other set in Kinokuniya gets bought too, XD.

Now, how to deal with being broke, my dietary choices are very constrained right now… orz. Also, I better preorder DVD 2 and 3 from instead. Much cheaper than Kino after shipping. Damn j00, Kino, damn j00.

    that’s Kino for you~

Your Kinokuniya has an “N” section? Ones I see in America (California at least) are organized by publisher, making is often confusing. Good think I can read kana to get a few titles. Anyway, I was at one last weekend and hoped to see the Ala Alba OVA, but there wasn’t one. Oh well, I didn’t have cash anyway (for some reason, they weren’t taking card payments).

    Volume 23 has a naked Evangeline? Uh….

  4. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

Um, yes. It is a naked Evangeline.

Don’t worry, her luscious blonde locks are covering most of her body.

  5. Haesslich Said,

    August 31, 2008 @ 6:44 pm

It’s not her body I’m worried about, so much as the reason she’s naked on the cover in the first place. Isn’t she stuck at the Academy while everyone else is in the Magic World? If that’s the case, why’s she on the cover naked?

  6. Haesslich Said,

    August 31, 2008 @ 6:45 pm

That, and “They are SO going to redo the cover when Del Rey brings it over here next year”.

  7. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    August 31, 2008 @ 6:46 pm

Because that’s not the real Evangeline. It’s copy of herself that was sealed in a scroll containing the method to learn Magia Erebea.

In anyways, I’m just glad we get to see Evangeline on the cover again.

I’ve long since learned never to read any manga by Ken Akamatsu in public places, without somehow concealing the covers.

    Especially in Singapore.

That cover is SO going to be censored when Del Rey catches up. They’re releasing volume 20 soon.

that’s a nice set! gotta go to kino’s here in new york and see if i can grab one.

Hmmm, whoever did the artwork for the box forgot about Asunas heterochromia.

  12. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

Which box? I’ve checked mine, and Asuna’s eyes all check out fine.

  13. DiGiKerot Said,

    The one for the DVDs – both of her eyes look blue on mine, though I guess it could just be me being colour blind ^^;

  14. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

The nice, hard cardboard box for all three DVD’s?

Yeah I checked that, they’re both correctly colored on mine.

  15. DiGiKerot Said,

    September 1, 2008 @ 12:48 am

    Just me being colour blind, then. Oh well ^^;

Though that box is sized for, what, five cases? That’s three for the DVDs, one for the drama CD they are releasing and with there being a space left I guess they must be releasing an OST at some point. Dang, that’s a lot of expenditure…

  16. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    September 1, 2008 @ 12:49 am

Actually, there’s also a single for the OP/ED that was just released.

I am contemplating on whether if I should buy that CD just to complete the set. Argh!

  17. DiGiKerot Said,

    September 1, 2008 @ 12:52 am

Ah, that would be it then. I guess I just ignored it – I don’t really need one copy of Happy Material, let alone another. But, as you say, the temptation to buy it just to complete the box is almost overwhelming…

  18. Cho_Hakkai Said,

That cover of Evangeline will also be censored in Malaysia if it is dub in Malay. I don’t know whether it will be censored in the Chinese version.

oh kur0, you… you… you fabulous Negima whore

now go write more articles to pay off the DVD.

  20. Asrialys Said,

Haesslich: The nude cover was for the LE. Of course Del Rey will choose the regular edition. So there probably won’t be any censorship at all. It’d be cool though if they worked with FUNimation to do a combined release in time for volume 23. lol That’s approximately 12 months from now.

  21. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    September 2, 2008 @ 1:57 pm

That’s the regular edition Negima cover. I just actually realized that it’s different for the regular tankoubans :P.

Funnily enough, I actually like that cover better. Maybe I should get that one too, lol.

I wonder if i can get those box sets here in USA, in Florida, Lake Worth or New York Manhattan.

Man sometimes I just hate USA

  23. Asrialys Said,

Jose, I just ordered all three from YesAsia at $164.22 (includes split shipping). I only hope that it’s cheaper than Amazon Japan. It did seem to be, since Amazon Japan’s split shipping is quite a lot. And ordering one alone from them is more than ordering just one from YesAsia. If you’re just going to order one at a time, then just use YesAsia ($51.75 each), since it’s free shipping. Make sure you’re using the North America website. And just so you know, if you order all three from YesAsia now, they charge you for all three right away, not as they ship it out.

So in this scene or whatever in the manga, is she actually naked, or what? Sorry I’m late, just can’t find info on this anywhere else for my negima blog.
