Saimoe Tournament 2008 Group Stage Listing

Official website:

Yosh, yaro dono! It’s that time of the year again, where we otakus burn with overwhelming spirit to come out in full force for our passions. To meet in a battleground and clash with others for our loves! And oh-god-what-I-am-saying.

Yes, it’s finally the time for this year’s Saimoe Tournament and with the bloody dolls out of the way this year, there’s a lot of interesting new participants, including a certain famous leek-spinning singer! Group A1 voting will commence from 12am tomorrow, marking the start of a long, looong battle.

To start off here’s the translated and nicely photoshopped group listing, taken from Animesuki, credits to the Anonymous Poster Guy. God, I seriously love you dude!

Wow, a Guardian Character actually made it. Good luck, Ran. And to the rest of the Shugo Chara characters that made it in.

So…Miku Hatsune makes it in by making a cameo appearance…

    Haruhi? Really? Haruhi Suzumiya qualified?

She was in a beverage commercial, and that’s enough for her to be in Saimoe?

I don’t know if I should be happy or frustrated

It’s war all over again. I’ll just sit back and watch the shitstorm unfold. I’m pretty much contented with last year’s. :P

In the not too distant future. On a tired forum. Stupidity has become routine.

Saimoe has changed. It’s no longer about who’s the most cute, attractive, or most favorite anime girl. It’s an endless series of fanboy battles fought by idiots. The tournament – and its consumption of time – has become a well-oiled machine.

Saimoe has changed. ID-tagged users carry ID-tagged sigs, use ID-tagged quotes. Nanomachines inside their computers enhance and regulate their stupidity. Content control. Information control. Digital control. Forum control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

Saimoe has changed. The age of anime has become the age of fanboys… All in the name of averting catastrophe from the fanboys of mass fail. And he who controls the tournament… controls history.

Saimoe has changed. When the tournament is under total control… …stupidity becomes routine.

Oh man, I remember way back when, when I was super into Saimoe, I actually printed out a blank chart and filled all the names and stuff by hand, crossing out whoever lost and stuff. Oh how, I long for those days…

Aya’s brackets are better: and, and those links ought to remain correct and up-to-date for the rest of the tournament.

Doesn’t really matter in the long run. I’ll be only posting the brackets again after the end of the group matches. My host is gonna kill me if I post one of those everyday.

@Kanedragon: Aya’s second bracket on PB is missing.

The character form tis season anime are not qualified ?
Tiffania (zero no tsukaima) is there so i hoped to see Nogizaka Haruka too… :(

But man… there will be some bloody fights in the beginning :)
Yuki Cross vs Sekai, Hime vs Kou, Karen vs Nagisa, …

But in the end Chizuru will win :)

PS : it would be funny if at some point there is a Noe vs Hiromi :D
The would be a new internet flamewar between the noe-fags and the hiromi-fags.

Miku Hatsune has a 3 second line in Episode 13 of Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Yes, apparently that is enough to qualify for SaiMoe.

As for Tiffanina and Haruka Nogizaka – Tiffanina made it in due to her VERY brief appearance in season 2. Haruka did not make the July 1st cutoff, however. Both will be eligible for SaiMoe 2009 though.
