In any case, the whole arguments about how video-games/anime are violent/full-of-sex are in almost every country that has games and anime. It’s just a thing that parent generations like to do. Like rock and roll was to our parents generation, video games are to ours. Censoring swearing and nudity makes sense if it’s on primetime TV when little kids are watching, but if you’re up late enough (say, midnight or later) a lot of shows have virtually no censorship. Most of ‘em are crap, like say, Niptuck, but hey.

In any case, I wasn’t trying to say it’s a fact that over here is better. It’s not. I was just trying to go for a ‘Team America: World Police’ style of joke…(that’s a movie that makes fun of us dumb Americans just in case you haven’t heard of it)

All I want to say is in my own opinion, there IS a level of censorship that makes sense, but Indonesia is just being on the level of paranoid…

Also they have a constant flow on how the they see anime and the open minded approachs that rise from it as a perverted thing and rent about how everyone everywhere should adopt the american conservative/christian approach.

C.I.: I don’t recall many that aren’t one of those. Shonen is pretty much an orgy of violence, sexual innuendo and other things used to stimulate teen hormones (heck, they use violence instead of an actual plot most of the time).

I, like most people over here, grew up with violence, sex and such on the telly. And my teacher taught us swearings, well, those we didn’t hear elsewere. So unless Indonesia want to breed a generation of moralist faggots for the fun of it (note that “state” and “lulz” rarely work together), they are being bloody pathetic.
No offense meant to those who turned out okay even though trained to be Jack Thompsonists, of course.

And isn’t One Piece directed towards the Shonen demographic? I don’t recall many violent, bloody, or sexually suggestive shonen animes.

Getting back on track though, assuming Umineko gets the same treatment as Higurashi it should be really good. I don’t think Higurashi was a bad anime though; The only part that bummed me was that they didn’t use the Canal Drying Chapter for the ending, though if they use it in the third season then it’ll be perfect…. (Keiichi dodging bullets from Hanyuu’s hax = awesome…)

@Omisyth: I wish I shared your enthusiasm for the live action Higurashi….my gut’s telling me it probably won’t be good at all. The people they’ve chosen and the preview clips I’ve seen….Rena’s actor seems like a joke…I really hope I turn out to be wrong though.
