Black Lagoon third season, Umineko anime, Indon TV station pwned.

Well, shit. On the heels of my earlier post, now comes this tantalizing tidbit about Black Lagoon’s third season getting announced. Oh fuck yeah, Roberta arc!

Then, Umineko no Naku Koro ni is also getting animated, and I wonder how would it be like, considering that Higurashi’s anime adaption wasn’t really that good overall, but I guess there’s one more interesting anime to watch later on.

Lastly, I totally LOL’ed at this ANN article of an Indon TV station being reprimanded for broadcasting One Piece. “Violent, bloody imagery” I can understand. “Sensual looking women,” nearly made me fell off my seat, but then Nami does have some nice melonpan but.. “close-ups of “women’s body parts”… huh where?!!

And in celebration of the 3rd Black Lagoon season, here, have some Roberta :).

I knew that’d get your interest. The Revy, Balalaika in three stages (young, soldier, mob boss), and Eda shots are interesting too…

FUCK YEAH BLACK LA-FUCKING-GOON!!! I’ll have to re-watch the entire series again in celebration ;)

The Higurashi adaptation was great! Both the seasons came together to form a completely cohesive stories and its one of my favourite mystery titles. Still waiting on that third season/OVA though… And I’ll be seeing if I can find the live action versiona as well.

That was probably the episode where Nami almost gets molested by Absalom; they made it a bit more explicit in the anime, but lawsuit? Come on, its not like Jack Thompson was involved! Or was he….?

Sweet, third season of Black Lagoon, I miss Rock and his stockholm syndrome.
Also at first glance I thought Umineko would be a member of the cat (neko) family. Upon clicking on the link, it turned out to mean seagull. I

Umineko was partially confirmed earlier I thought. But nevertheless. GOOD NEWS.

Ack, Umineko adaptation coming far, FAR too early. There’s only, what, two games worth of stories at this point. You’d have expected them to hold off until Umineko gets at least five games in, like what they did with Higurashi.

    1. Censoring and removal of things for being “offensive” always makes me laugh cynically, it is always just as suprising as frightening how close we are to medieval thinking, and how easy it is to switch to dystopia through the little things. Some mighty terror-junta should appear with the sole purpose to kick censor ass globally.

    2. I agree with Myssa it is a bit early, this early we will probably see an alternate ending.

On the third news, as an Indonesian, sadly this isn’t the first case ;__; it just…happens a lot. Well, can’t expect really much from a country which is not really ready for globalization, no?

“Well, can’t expect really much from a country which is not really ready for globalization, no?”
does that mean they are not ready for Kanokon either?…

It’s stuff like that last bit you mentioned that make me happy to be an American…

And I know I’m REALLY making myself obvious as an American when I say that they aren’t gonna take a single sexual innuendo out of any of the shows I like till they pry it out of our COLD DEAD HANDS!

    (was I overdoing it?)

But yeah, I just love how they try to be even more politically correct than some of our moronic politicians…and I thought Obama was bad…

Getting back on track though, assuming Umineko gets the same treatment as Higurashi it should be really good. I don’t think Higurashi was a bad anime though; The only part that bummed me was that they didn’t use the Canal Drying Chapter for the ending, though if they use it in the third season then it’ll be perfect…. (Keiichi dodging bullets from Hanyuu’s hax = awesome…)

@Omisyth: I wish I shared your enthusiasm for the live action Higurashi….my gut’s telling me it probably won’t be good at all. The people they’ve chosen and the preview clips I’ve seen….Rena’s actor seems like a joke…I really hope I turn out to be wrong though.

THIS IS A GOOD DAY INDEED. ROBERTA ARC FTW. Moar Revy X Rock is also good.

And isn’t One Piece directed towards the Shonen demographic? I don’t recall many violent, bloody, or sexually suggestive shonen animes.

Heero Yuy: You’re country still censor nudity and swearing (my favorite quote from american tv is still “THIS IS A MOTHER*BEEEP* FREE COUNTRY!”), but I suppose even that’s better.

C.I.: I don’t recall many that aren’t one of those. Shonen is pretty much an orgy of violence, sexual innuendo and other things used to stimulate teen hormones (heck, they use violence instead of an actual plot most of the time).

I, like most people over here, grew up with violence, sex and such on the telly. And my teacher taught us swearings, well, those we didn’t hear elsewere. So unless Indonesia want to breed a generation of moralist faggots for the fun of it (note that “state” and “lulz” rarely work together), they are being bloody pathetic.
No offense meant to those who turned out okay even though trained to be Jack Thompsonists, of course.

@Heero Yuy: Don’t forget that your precious america banned Kodomo no Jikan.

Also they have a constant flow on how the they see anime and the open minded approachs that rise from it as a perverted thing and rent about how everyone everywhere should adopt the american conservative/christian approach.

So don’t be so proud. You’re not even close to the utopia you see yourselves as.

  14. LDC Said,

@The Hordesman: 86.1% of Indonesia’s population are muslims, and religion plays a major role in life in Indonesia.
Do you understand now why they act that way?

  15. Heero Yuy Said,

    July 14, 2008 @ 4:33 am

@LDC: Ummm, we didn’t BAN Kodomo no Jikan, it’s just that the company that was going to produce it here decided to cancel the license. A lot of people seem to get the concepts of ‘ban’ and ‘not license’ mixed up. Just like with Battle Royale, it’s not that it’s banned, just that no one here owns the license for it, so it never gets produced here. It’s not that it’s illegal to import it.

In any case, the whole arguments about how video-games/anime are violent/full-of-sex are in almost every country that has games and anime. It’s just a thing that parent generations like to do. Like rock and roll was to our parents generation, video games are to ours. Censoring swearing and nudity makes sense if it’s on primetime TV when little kids are watching, but if you’re up late enough (say, midnight or later) a lot of shows have virtually no censorship. Most of ‘em are crap, like say, Niptuck, but hey.

In any case, I wasn’t trying to say it’s a fact that over here is better. It’s not. I was just trying to go for a ‘Team America: World Police’ style of joke…(that’s a movie that makes fun of us dumb Americans just in case you haven’t heard of it)

All I want to say is in my own opinion, there IS a level of censorship that makes sense, but Indonesia is just being on the level of paranoid…

  16. The Hordesman Said,

    July 14, 2008 @ 4:43 am

LDC: They are still pussies in my eyes- I know muslims and they wouldn’t bother, even if they were the majority, infact, they would sit back and enjoy and probably be the first to get pissed if it went of air.
But at least they do have beards. That is always a start.

I suppose the moralists are amongst us all, the ratio the same but the amount of guns they have differ, heh.
