Fucking hell yeah! Negi gains +50 GAR points this chapter, with his “fight first, talk later” rules of engagement he has now adopted. No more bullshit. No more delaying talk. No more lame attempts at persuasion. “Peace through Power!”… fuck, yeah.
“M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!!!!” (literally!)
Please forgive my urge to give each of the pictures an Unreal Tournament caption. I know it’s a bit lame, I just couldn’t resist it….
Seriously, the power of Evangeline’s Magia Erebea is truly awesome and I like the basis of the ability to “absorb” the attack spell cast by the user to himself in return for extra physical abilities. This, I think, would really fit a whole lot more to Negi with his Chinese martial arts skills, rather than the external casting that Negi was using earlier in the series. Even more so, Magia Erebea seems to allow the user to close in to their enemy and launch the spell at point-blank range, which basically almost means a sure-kill if used properly. Hell, I think even a normal Sagitta Magica would be quite damaging, of course, after a long practice at it.
Man, I’m starting to really respect Evangeline more and more, and even more so towards Akamatsu-sensei. Seriously, Negima’s action scenes are like 10x more awesome than most shounen series lately.
On a side note, I’ve seen some screens of the Ala Alba OVA, and surprisingly, I saw Chao’s arc animated, albeit only the final showdown between her and Negi. Now I’m kinda interested in watching it, mostly because the battle scenes look pretty faithful to the manga one.
