Intense episode this week.
Crashed down, Ranka and Alto explore their surroundings and a memory recall hits Ranka when she sees the SDF Macross lookalike. After she calms down, they continue scouting the area, and Alto finds a stream so they take a rest there, and Alto decides to take a little dip in it. Cue cliché embarrassing moment when Ranka ties up Alto’s hair and a small local creature decides to surprise them a bit. Cue another embarrassing moment when Ranka wants to use the toilet but can’t say it out loud. However, this time, it ends up seriously when she gets captured by something.
Worried, Alto heads for the SDF Macross lookalike, and finds out it’s part of the 117th Exploration Group from the ship markings. Alto infiltrates the ship and finds a research facility for Vajra-looking things and a picture of a much younger Ranka as well. Meanwhile, Ranka has come to and finds herself inside a Vajra nest, radioing Alto for help. However, the egg-laying Vajra notices her awake, and is about to touch her when Brera comes in with his Valkyrie and shields her. Alto takes the chance to get Ranka, but a protective shell covers her. One of Brera’s shots hit the big Vajra, and it triggers a reaction within Ranka, causing the whole place to overflow with purple light.
Both Brera and Alto are thrown outside, and the ship starts to rise up, shedding the outer coverings to reveal a Vajra mothership. Alto gets his VF-25 and starts a dogfight with Brera and is almost outmatched when help comes in the form of Mikhail and Sheryl. Alto tells them to retrieve Ranka from inside the Vajra mothership, while he engages Brera, but they’re all interrupted when Grace activates a LAI machine that causes a planet-wide fold fault, consuming it in the process. Mikhail and Sheryl seem to manage to escape it by following the Vajra ships folding, but Alto’s fate is left in a cliffhanger.
Yes, definitely an intense episode this week, with a ton of action and more mysteries unfolding. It is now confirmed that Grace is part of the whole conspiracy, although to what extent she plays in it is still unknown, and it seems she may have been eaten in the fold-fault-explosion, but then she might be just a fake android body of the main conspirator, considering what we’ve seen and know of the Galaxy ship with it’s advancements in technology. Also, it’s definitely rare to hear Inoue Kikuko in such an evil voice, heh.
The fold-fault generator explosion was pretty awesome, at the least to say of it, but it does seem that humans, especially LAI, are definitely researching some dangerous technology here, and poor Luca got a sounding-off from Leon in this episode. It’s also still a mystery as to what extent Leon is part of the overall conspiracy as well, but he seems to be pulling a lot of strings here and there.
Also, it seems my own theory that Ranka is the “Queen Vajra” or at least someone essential to the Vajra is being confirmed more this episode, with that reaction to the Vajra egg-layer getting hit and the chain reaction it caused. There’s also the mystery of her past, and we are given quite a number of flashbacks concerning her forgotten past this episode, although none are conclusive as of yet.
Worried Sheryl :X
Weird name for a pill. Fancy printing on it as well.
Oh man, why is he so pretty?!
Are you guys elementary school students?!
Nana definitely hates long, cylindrical things. *ahem*
Random loli Klein shot!
His cockpit kinda looks awesome, really.
Loli Ranka shot!
Dun.. dun… dun!!
Definitely getting more and more interesting now, the show is, especially with all the questions popping up more and more. Was that ship the original SDF? If so, why was it in the 117th Exploration Group? Why did it become a Vajra nest? It looks like the show will be turning much more serious from now on. Can’t wait for next week yet again, especially when it’s about the secret of Aimo being revealed.
