Tower of Druaga faggotry(?)

So apparently, the people behind the free, subtitled streaming of The Tower of Druaga (Crunchyroll I presume), decide to only upload the first 5 minutes of episode 11 on Youtube, while helpfully providing the link to the Crunchyroll streaming with the full episode. In fact, the sidebar description now reads “Watch the full episode (It’s free!): (insert CR link)” instead of “Free streaming of this episode also available at: (insert CR link)” that has been the usual of the previous 10 episodes.

I find it highly annoying, especially because I have been using Youtube much more, and I do not really like the CR site much. This blatant attempt to force the Youtube viewers to their site (meaning account registration and etc. etc.) is highly insulting and reeks of profiteering, even more so when the show is actually nearing it’s end, especially with the story turning a lot more darker and deeper in tone compared to most of the series. I had been looking forward for my usual fix of Druaga on Youtube, but this has left me in despair.

In fact, hints of this had emerged already during the upload of last week’s episode, where a sizable portion of the upper half of the Youtube upload was basically a billboard for Crunchyroll. I was quite irritated, but merely shrugged it off, but this tactic of uploading only the first 25% of the episode and forcing the rest of the viewers to their own site really takes the cake.

I sincerely hope it might be all a mistake and a botched upload, but the evidence points all to the contrary. I do hope that the people behind this realize that this is not the way to attract more viewers to their sites, and in fact causes quite the opposite, especially since there was a promise to fully stream the show on all the three sites that signed up initially.

Meanwhile, I await for my HD raw of Druaga episode 11 to finish.

This is why we cannot have nice things.

Unless the threat of nuclear winter is behind it.

My lord… I had fallen behind on releases and was looking forward to catching up. YouTube was my main supplier. This is an horrendous action on Crunchyroll’s part. I wonder how this affects the relationship between streaming and Gonzo, in accordance with what they were contracted to do. This could really blow up.

For your info, Crunchyroll is a lot better than YouTube in term of quality. Most of the show I watched is at Crunchyroll except that the show is banned by some company (that I really hate).

If they banned the show, I go to veoh the second high quality streaming. But they banned our country.

Now Youtube is my last resort as they do not have high quality,

If you don’t mind paying a little fee, go to BOST. Heck they translated and subtitled the show to begin with and is the other pay site besides the dodgy CR guys and they didn’t pull crap like getting their ads on the free streams to black mail people to go to their site. In fact I think the BOST guys don’t get enough love.

This brings to mind the abbreviation “wtf?”

I didn’t think CR would go so low as to try to attract visitors like that. I actually like them, though a lot less now.
IMO, they should just add an annotation to the episode linking to CR, and leave it at that.

I don’t think this is CR’s fault, though it could be a little bit. I believe Gonzo is the one that uploads onto YouTube. If you look at TTODruagaAE’s profile, it’s got Gonzo all over it. The website link is to As far as I can see, there are no links to CR there.

I don’t know why Gonzo would do that though. I’m pretty sure Gonzo would have noticed and fixed it pretty quickly if it really were a botched upload. You don’t even need to sign up/log in to watch it at CR anyways.

Well, they reuploaded ep 10 without the CR ad on YouTube yesterday, so hopefully they’ll reuploaded a full ep 11on YouTube soon

    @ LDC “Gonzo.
    Why are they still alive?”

Because people still like their shows and they are still making money. Sometimes I need to emphasise that anime is FREE even though I hate that notion as fan should be supporting series they enjoy in some way, you’re not by any means obligated to watch any show you don’t want to, people choose their anime.

Why are you people complaining? The show is FREE.

You have no right to complain about your treatment.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed this bullshit. All of a sudden, Crunchyroll is getting its awful paws on the youtube gonzo channels, and it pissed me the fuck off when it happened last week.

I don’t need Crunchyroll’s “humor” cutting off part of the screen I’m trying to look at. GARBAGE!

The Druaga YouTube channel does say “Program schedule and availability are subject to change” but to not give followers a warning is bad regard for your viewers.

Like one poster said…WHO CARES! It’s subbed by 2 fansub groups!

    They’re both on MKV/HD. Take your pick: Hi-No-Ka @ 704 resolution OR…

…the slower but HIGHER defintion sub by Nova-Furukawa @ 1280 resolution?

I chose Hi-no_ka because they speed subbed it (and finished) but I prefer Nova_F’s 1280 resolution which kicks arse.
