“Legend of Zero”

Macross Frontier

Awesome, awesome episode. Well, except for the WTF action scenes inserted in the middle for no reason.

Basically the Macross Zero tribute episode, both Sheryl and Ranka manage to get a piece of Alto-hime this episode, both of them each getting a kiss. “Kimiiii wa dare to kisuuuu wo suruuuu!” fits so the show so damn much now. I especially went whooping when Sheryl surprised Alto-hime with her kiss… awwwwww. But now, both of them are really seriously going for the love Triangle(r), ehehehe.

Ah, the other interesting thing to happen was the confirmation of moyism’s guess. Yappari, Alto-hime is really a hime. The following IRC convo says it all:

[04:09] @kur0gan3> but let’s just say this…
[04:09] @kur0gan3> Alto is a really, really beautiful.
[04:09] @kur0gan3> I’d fall for him now myself, if I didn’t know better.
[04:09] @RangerKarl> a really really beautiful what
[04:09] @RangerKarl> hur ok
[04:10] @kur0gan3> i think that’s why he’s soooo popular with the girls.
[04:10] @kur0gan3> that beauty, yet that tsun-tsun attitude

On the topic of the Macross Zero movie, Ranka as Mao was really kinda LOL. The side character playing Sara was just way off, seriously, but they sure got a real lookalike for Shin Kudo’s role, although he kinda chickened out for the underwater scene. The movie director was pretty damn GAR at the end of the episode, when he finally spoke to Ranka and inviting her on stage. Man, what’s with the awesome male side-characters in Frontier. Otherwise, this is gonna be a career-launching platform for good ‘ol Ranka, and heck, she’s gonna do a live concert next next week!

And that brings me to one thing… NO MACROSS FRONTIER NEXT WEEK. WHYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!!!! A two-week wait is terrible, dammit! I’m already suffering from withdrawals as it is, particularly peaking around Monday and Tuesday… but now I have to go through double of it?! I sure hope I survive long enough.

Yeah, and one final thing before I start with the screencap flood (38 this time, I’m slowly turning in to a moyism/lolitron)… the “action” scene this week was just WTF terrible. Damn Thai animators. I seriously wonder why did they put that part in, apart from introducing Brera to Alto. Makes no sense, really.

Hey isn’t this Sheryl’s earring?!

Oh right, forgot to mention this. Somehow Sheryl’s earring was retrieved. I wonder if it’s gonna be a plot thread as well. Sheryl’ll be pretty happy to get it back, and Alto can heave a sigh of relieve, hehe.

Ahh, swimsuit Sheryl! *nosebleed*

    F***ing epic that was.
Why was the BGM for the last part when Ranka steped on stage with GAR director not Part of the OST? WHYYYYYYYY?

Obviously they’re gonna release 2-3 more OST’s for Frontier.

Personally, if they do it like the first one, I’m gonna be a very happy otaku. Frontier’s music is the best in recent times.

What’s up with Ranka wearing those boots with her pretty white, strapless dress?

There is a lot of back-and-forth between and Sheryl and Ranka vying for Alto, but Ranka always seemed like she was losing ground, until now. It looks like she’ll be serious even though Alto probably sees her more like a sister right now.

Also, won’t a lot of girls at the academy be awfully jealous of Ranka when they see the film? Alto’s name has got to be in the credits. And won’t Ozma try to kill Alto now?

The Director is most likely a self-insert of Kawamori Shouji himself, except with a beard. Naturally, they’s try to make him seem awesome.

At least the important parts were kept to a decent and at times glorious standard.

Now that Ranka has had her kissu we the War for Alto-hime shall begin in earnest.

I just loved how the director was already foreshadowed as the bearded fellow who got one of Ranka’s promotional tissue packets. The man needs a name because he is obviously a genius and has an eye for talent. He selected Ranka as his Mao without giving so much as a pause. The man also leapt upon Alto-hime when he realized who it was saying yo. Such is the beauty of Alto-hime that even now the bridge crew including Cathy are now a part of his fan club.

Judging by Ozma’s mention of one “Doctor Mao”, I doubt we’ve heard the last of Mao Nome. Seems like she’ll probably play a pretty big part in the story later on. Also Bird Human is a dumb name.

    @Sigue

“Bird Human” sounds a lot better in Chinese and presumably japanese.

Crusader: His name is Kawamori. ;) but yes, this has started to triangle plot in earnest.

And “Doctor Mao”? Sounds like SOMEONE definitely survived Earth’s nuking. Maybe she joined the UN Spacy? Or was along with the 117th Expeditionary Fleet? She would be about 50-something by now, and if she was a mother would’ve been one in her forties…

I was wondering when Kawamori would pop up in Macross F. And none other than the director of the Macross Zero inmovie.

And yes, his mechanical designs are pure genius ranging from those Transformer toys to the Valkyrie. I grew up with his toys.

Given that Ranka was adopted, want to bet her name was ‘Nome’? And Sheryl was an orphan whose mother was gone (not dead, just never known by Sheryl)…

    Oh, that would be perfect.

We should all take note of Haesslich’s comment. He gets a prize when that happens.
