Old anime I'd definitely recommend to watch: Space Adventure Cobra.

It's like pimp and GAR at the same time, and for anyone who have played Devil May Cry, Cobra was the inspiration for Dante.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=mubzneItK6g

Not to mention that it gonna get a new OAV or series around the summer.

@kurogane: Lynn Kaifun is such a self-centered egoistic retard. Not to mention he totally doesn’t appreciate the good things that the military has done, like oh say…RESCUING HIM FROM BEING CRUSHED BY KAMJIN. He’s just as bad, no worse than those retards who want to wage war just for the sake of waging war. I really, REALLY want to punch him. Hard.

Personally I was hoping he'd get stomped on by a mech or something equally painful back when I watched it.

@Myssa Rei: See, Max is awesome. I liked the video game part. She’s basically trying to win and he’s basically checking her out. Of course I’ve still only seen this in the Robotech version. They make a great combat pair. Never get into a space fight against Max and Milia…you will lose.

Surprisingly Robotech was pretty faithful to the Macross part of it. The part you're talking about was pretty much exactly the same in fact.

>>>@xellos: yeah, i agree with that, too much eps, just like we get tired of watashi no kare wa pilot

I wonder why they always choose this song. Myung's friend back in Macross PLus was singing this song too. Silver Moon Red Moon, Angel's Paint and DYRL are far superior to watashi no kare wa pilot.

haha, we dont need to go that far k?
anything before 2000 is considered old imo
its just like... its been a long time since i watch anime, and its the first time i see ppl replying AND with not just some random reply, y`know?

i mean... its macross XD~~
all i got is a bunch of fansites and stuff but no up-to-date feedback heh
(cos there`s macross f and all yay)

animation now looks great, videos that used to be in low pixel res. are crisp and all XDDD
its nice to know there`s ppl willing to watch old stuff =3
(i watched eva in .viv haha, and i watched kor from ripped vhs orz)

anyway. i`m not trying to worship kurogane nor nothing, but using the perspective from 2008 to look at old material and talk about it in a blog... well, its pretty uncommon and interesting=p

****oh well, i`ll write more when i get up. i`m kinda under the influnce of some random sake here so pardon me haha =3

KOR is a decent romance for its time. Could have probably told the story in half the number of Eps. The Movie was probably one of the best. As it is KOR is still not old enough.

You want old anime try Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Queen Millenium and Galaxy Express 999.

Exedol doing it was frightening. Not 'crossdressing' sorta frightening, but still.. well, I can understand why Global had his head down during that. ;)

Macross did make a few changes to the standard formula - namely with how Earth ended up. The 'winning' was in the fact the Macross survived, as did the three of them in the triangle. As Xellos pointed out, they went beyond the 'happily ever after' to show what really happened, which made it a bit of a deconstruction of the genre up to that point (Gundam wasn't afraid of killing off main characters, but even THEY had a 'happy ever after' for the survivors, until Zeta rolled around).

Myssa Rei: Don't forget that two of the daughters are adopted. But yes, he is like the proto-Kamina, minus the whiny stage... and he even gets the girl. He was the pilot who believed in the me who believed in himself...

Kurogane: Max ends up raising 7 daughters, mind you, before his relationship with Milia gets strained (reference: Macross 7). And yes, Max *IS* awesome; note that, in 7, he pretty much jumps into the VF-22 Stormvogel after decades out of the pilot seat, and puts paid the Protodevlin attacking Mylene.

Baby-throwing aside, Komilia (the first daughter) grew up normally enough (I *think* she's the Meltrandi that's in the VF-X game).

See, Max is awesome. I liked the video game part. She's basically trying to win and he's basically checking her out. Of course I've still only seen this in the Robotech version. They make a great combat pair. Never get into a space fight against Max and Milia...you will lose.

I do like when the Meltrandi show up in Macross 7. Seeing that many "uncultured" giants go all fangirl is hysterical.

>>>The time jump sure threw me off a bit. But it does show how arbitrarily the plot seems to have been hacked together.

I thought this was actually the most brilliant part of Macross and is what set it apart form other mecha series. Macross's after war is so far the only mecha series where it shows the aftermath of a war almost immediately after. People are struggling and the intergration of the human and zentraedi is not going smoothly at all. It shows that there is no happliy after. After one battle is finish another battle will come up. Life is never ending and there is no The End.

>>>Dear god, Zentraedi or not, it’s not a good idea to throw babies around, Milia.

All things consider Milia turnout to be a pretty good mother.
