There's a reason that Kawamori basically said that it didn't happen for real but it was a propaganda movie made in-universe. … DYRL is basically an in-universe movie which screwed around with the storyline and the character development in order to ‘make things better’… and in doing so, messed up everyone’s characterization. :P
