Tower of Druaga 02

Tower of Druaga

Boy meets cute girl… ahh, typical Gonzo.

Yeap, this episode totally makes me go… “Ahh~ this is truly a Gonzo show.”

You have the hotheaded idealistic protagonist in Gil.

You also have the complex, interrelated multiple plot threads going around, half of which are going to be used randomly then discarded.

You also have the cute, female lead in Kaaya, voiced awesomely by Fumiko Orikasa. She pretty much is gonna make this show work for me, elsewise, I probably dunno what to watch for.

Let’s see how episode 3 plays out, after the oh-I-saw-it-coming-from-a-mile-away twist they did at the end of this episode.

P.S. More Hocchan x Roper action would be quite win.

Nabari no Ou 02

Nabari no Ou

A non-tsundere twintail blonde?! I don’t believe it!

Too bad, twintail blonde Shimizu isn’t a tsundere type…. oh well :(.

Still, Nabari’s main form of entertainment comes in Rokujo’s deadpan-ness and apathy skills, coupled up with some wicked uses of cuteness when he needs something done. Oh god, he’s pretty awesome. The rest of the cast also have their own entertaining quirks, like Thobari-sensei’s total phobia of vehicles and Shimizu’s penchant to mistake (totally different) people from each other. Honestly, I feel her quirk is rather forced-on though, it’s not she’s a meganekko as wel-… oh wait, maybe she is one!

Nabari no Ou

Mmm~ otherwise, the show still hasn’t truly appealed to me. I’m still waiting for them to start off a major story arc and also give more information (and airtime) to the Shinra Banshou hijutsu inside Rokujou.

Nabari no Ou

Man, I love Miharu’s sarcasm.

Picked this up after AonE-Conclave subbed it. Yeah, I’m kinda slow lately that even the subs have caught up :P.

Interesting show to say the least. I’m surprised that Rie Kugimiya is doing the male lead, Rokujou Miharu, and she’s employing probably the lowest voice I’ve ever heard from her. She plays the male role pretty convincingly too, with the deadpan voice she employs. Interestingly, Satoshi Hino’s partnering up again with Kugimin. J.C. Staff sure likes this pairing a lot.

Daisuke Namikawa’s, interestingly named, Durandal Thobari Kumohira is rather dynamic too, going from serious to hot-blooded just like that. I wonder if he did that on purpose or he lost control of his voice? XD

Good ol’ Yukarin is in this series too, as the Shinra Banshou thing hidden inside of Rokujou. She sure is getting a monopoly on this dark, all-knowing type of character lately.

Maa~~ I’ll see how this panders out. I’m kinda interested in the twintail blonde coming up next episode. Definitely a tsundere.

Geass R2 03 leaked

Damn, I missed the shitstorm.

So, someone leaked the last 6 minutes of Geass R2 03 on the net. Quite a lot of details got leaked in the 6 mins, mainly:

  • Villetta is in charge of observing Lelouch while he is in Ashford.
  • Rollo seems to possess some form of genuine affection for Lelouch as his brother.
  • Rollo’s Geass ability is revealed more clearly, it seems he can stop time. Man… ZA WARUDOOOOO anyone?
  • The Chinese Embassy isn’t the safe haven for the Black Knights anymore.

More interesting, however, is a post on 2ch claiming that a staff member has been arrested in connection to the leak, and episode 3’s broadcast may be delayed till next week and it might be totally redone. Given the nature of the source however, I’m inclined to advise everyone to take it with a pinch of salt. I just don’t see how having those 6 minutes leaked is going to result in them redoing a whole episode, especially since it’s still early in the series.

UPDATE: From Anime News Network:

The official Japanese website for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 anime series has announced that human error caused Tuesday’s online leak of the fourth and final part of episode 3, which will not officially air until this Sunday in Japan. The leak of the last five minutes and 51 seconds occurred around 5:00 p.m. JST on various Internet video-sharing websites. According to the Code Geass Production Committee’s investigation, Bandai Channel (the network service responsible for posting the entire program onto the Internet) was testing a system that prevents unauthorized video posts when it accidentally uploaded the episode’s ending onto the Internet early.

The production committee apologized to those who have been waiting to enjoy the official broadcast and promised to take steps to avoid having this happen a second time. The third episode will air on Sunday, April 20 at 5:00 p.m. JST as scheduled.

Thank you to dormcat for the news tip.

Well, see. Using 2ch as a news source is like using Wikipedia as your only reference for your graduation thesis, well, unless your graduation thesis is on Wikipedia or something.

Hayate no Gotoku S1 ends

Hayate no Gotoku

Ahh~ so it finally ends. HnG has been a… unique show for me.

While admittedly it did not quite match up to my initial (high) expectations for it, but it somehow managed to evolve to gain an identity of its own, as the dominant gag anime of the year. Honestly, I did enjoy nearly all the episodes, and it’s one of the rare adaptations that I actually like despite the major deviations to the source material.

I find it also fitting they chose to end the first season with RADICAL DREAMERS, one of the more touching parts of the story in the manga. Isn’t it just cute Hayate did a Tokikake to the past in order to save the much younger Nagi. Ahh~ this was really one of the stronger pro-Nagi chapters in the series, considering the chapter came after Hinagiku got introduced in :P.

Anyways, I actually look forward to Season 2, and possibly another year of hijinks with the Sanzenin household and Co. More Hinagiku is ALWAYS welcome, right?

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki 01

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

Frenzy? More like pure batshit insanity, o-Kyouka-sama.

I picked this up solely on the strong recommendation from j1mone (one of the bloggers whom I actually check on a daily basis) and also because SS-Eclipse actually subbed it. Honestly, I was kinda surprised and a bit disappointed at them for picking up Geass R2 (considering the ungodly amount of subbers doing it already) but their choice to sub this redeems them back.

Let’s just say this, this show is. Bat. Shit. Insane. And I love it. The jokes are insane, but reference-free, mainly remaining in the context of the show’s already absurd setting, quite a breathe of fresh air, since the recent shows that employ the same batshit-insane style have been mostly quite hard to get (Pani Poni Dash comes to mind).

The awesome manzai couple of Kyouka-sama and Ouka Midarezaki is pretty cool too, and that’s not even counting in the absurdity of having a jellyfish, lion, gay guy and a biological weapon as your adopted children. Yes, this is definitely a batshit insane show that KNOWS it’s meant to be batshit insane, and it loves it.

C’mon, even the producers batshit insane themselves, going as so far to (probably) produce EIGHT DIFFERENT ending sequences for each of the TV stations airing the show. How bloody cool is that?

P.S. Kana Hanazawa’s Yuka is <3~~~~ Oh god, I miss her voice much. And her in a loli role too!

Clannad, Shuffle, D.C. II to Launch 3D Virtual World

From Anime News Network:

The Japanese technology news source ITmedia reports that five companies will launch ai space, a 3D virtual world where users can interact with bishōjo game heroines from Clannad, Shuffle!, and D.C. II: Da Capo II, this summer. Headlock (Detective Evangelion, Neon Genesis Evangelion Battle Orchestra) is developing the world which will have characters from the game developers Visual Art’s (Clannad), Omegavision (Shuffle!), and CIRCUS (D.C. II: Da Capo II). The Dwango online service provider will support the service’s infrastructure. Each game franchise will be recreated on its own virtual island.

Each users will be able to create his (or her) own avatar as well as select one bishōjo character as a personal character doll (”chara-doll”). The avatar and the chara-doll can then live together on one of the islands — complete with a house and furniture that they can buy. The chara-doll will be able to wear different costumes (based on in-game items), memorize various motions to act out, and dance. The developers claim that each chara-doll can develop a unique personality for each user.

The different islands will be connected by a tentatively titled “Akihabara Island,” where the different avatar/chara-doll pairs can gather for chatting and events. Dwango’s Niwango subsidiary plans to incorporate the Nico Nico Anime Channel from the Nico Nico Douga online video service (which boasts over 6 million users) into the virtual world. On the real-world Nico Nico Douga site, the companies have posted a teaser video that was presented at the last Winter Comic Market convention. The singer KOTOKO (Shakugan no Shana, Please Teacher!) will perform the first theme song.

It’s like Second Life, only with Kyou, Kaede and Nanaka. Oh god… I am “tempted” to join in. But something in me tells me that I will be really, really sad person if I do so.

Another season of honey and clover.

Honey and Clover

Well, I’ve been reindulging myself in the sinful pleasure that is Honey and Clover. Truly, classics are the best. Gotta thank my part-time job of reviewing manga to get me back in to the mood to watch it (just had to review the first volume of Hachikuro by Viz Media).

Coming back to it after a year later and feeling way more mature, both physically and emotionally, it really does frighten me somewhat on how much Honey and Clover gets me emotionally involved with the characters, especially with Mayama and Takemoto, where in I see myself a lot in each of them, in different ways. It does make me wonder… will I be like that in a few more years time? Every time I rewatch this show, I gain a much needed appreciation of my own youth.

Truthfully though, what gets in to me the most are the women of Honey and Clover, mainly the painful loves between Mayama towards Rika, and Yamada towards Mayama. Yamada is definitely the character of Honey and Clover I can’t forget the most, and I definitely would’ve join in the Yamada bodyguard club if I had the chance myself too. But is it evil of me…. as I find her the most attractive when she pines for Mayama? I can really empathize with Nomiya’s feelings as he drives her back to the Shinkansen station in the 3rd episode of H&C II, when he wishes for her to come crying in to his arms. Can such despicable feelings truly be called love?

Ahhh… I guess Mayama’s right when he says that women turn more beautiful when they’re in love but men however….. well, he’s the best example I guess.
