Admittedly, character developments of the more minor characters were sacrificed, but I did not find the pace awkward in any way. Maybe it's because it had been ages since I last saw it on TV when I was a young brat. And you ought to have watched it in a cinema to get the "feel" of the series. In the control room scene, it feels as though the audience is IN the control room themselves. At first I was thinking of waiting for the DVD, but I thought I might as well watch this series properly for once (I never really followed Evangelion obsessively back then, and the TV station censoring a lot of stuff didn't help), as well as being attracted by the promise of a new ending. I wonder if it'll still end up with everyone being reduced to an ocean of goo?
