Evangelion 1.0 is getting shown in Malaysia

Evangelion 1.0

Oh wow. Holy fuck. How come no one told me about this!!! The things you miss when you stop reading the (government propaganda distribution) newspapers.

Right, so I’m definitely going. Definitely. Better book the tickets now.

3rd July 2008. It’s already stated in the picture.

Even you didn’t know about it eh?

I know the time, but not the place…

Anyway, I’ve found the venue: The Picturehouse, Cathay Cineplex Damansara, from 1st July to 1st August 2008.

Dunno if I want to watch or not considering it’s basically a rehash of the series…

I’m going to see how it turns out. Having Evangelion screened in a local cinema is already pretty awesome. Be there not for the show, but for the historical event it will become.

Wonder if they’ll censor it, though.

A historical event? How so? It’s not like it’s the first anime movie to be screened in Malaysia. Personally I think the movie is overhyped, but I’ll still go to see what’s different from the series.

[…] Kurogane’s sharp eyes have spotted a recent advertisement in the papers that Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone will be coming to Malaysia this July. It will be exclusively screened at The Picturehouse at Cathay Cineleisure Damansara from the 3rd of July. Nice. I wonder if the trailer for Evangelion 2.0 will be omitted at the end of the movie, like Singapore’s screening? […]

The irony. It’s showing when I just left the country. And so close to home too -_-“

Don’t worry, the same thing pretty much happened here (Or at least, to me) in SG… =_=

Woah, seems that everybody are excited by this movie.
Knew about it last week – http://shrine.lowyat.net/2008/04/16/eva-in-my-malaysia/ – and I really looking to watch Eva again after watching it for the first time 7 years ago :D

Yuuko Miyamura is not Asuka’s seiyuu anymore? Does she being replace by Yuriko Yamaguchi?

Anyway, I hope this movie will air in Indonesia. I really want to see Ayanami Rei in action again!!!

    Thx for the review, Kurogane-san

Mwahaha, already seen it in cinemas here.

I definitely recommend it. They didn’t just rehash old footage, they actually redraw the animation, all of it coupled with some nice CG which wasn’t available then. Without spoiling anything (not that there’s much to spoil if you’ve seen episode 1-6), just “Operation Yashima” is worth the ticket price. Utada Hikaru’s song in the credits “Beautiful World” is by far her best song ever.

Good luck you guys there in hoping this gets past the sometimes ridiculous Malaysian censors.
