Ishida-sensei disappears for half a year, until things die down a bit. In the meantime, Yoshikawa-sensei takes over the role of advisor, surprisingly she got married to Ishibashi-sensei and they’re already expecting a child! Hayai! Tama-chan is now a sophomore, and she’s enjoying the role.

Two new freshmen, in the form of the siblings of Toyama and Iwasa join the club. God damn, that bastard Toyama has a cute tsundere imouto, voiced by Chiwa Saito too. I lol’ed when she mentioned sepak takraw though.

Ahh~ it’s been a fun watch, following the adventures of the Muroe High Kendo club over the past half year (and exactly one year in the series timeline).

From the naively cute and strong Tama-chan, the always-smiling Kirino-buchou, hopelessly clumsy Satorin, the extreme bipolarity of Miya-miya and the zany but motivated Saya, BAMBOO BLADE has done a fine job in drawing us in to their lives, looking at both their happy moments and trying times.

The biggest strength of BAMBOO BLADE has probably how it manages to maintain a finely objective viewpoint, centering around the Muroe High Kendo club, rather than putting too much focus on to any individual club member. While Tama-chan is undeniably the main girl, being Red, the rest had their fair share of airtime, with the exception of guys perhaps.

It seems that there is a possibility of a second season, given the introduction of new characters, especially one being hinted as Tama’s new rival. I would gladly watch it too.

In the famous words of Utamaru: ‘Guys? Who cares?’ :P

Thanks for introducing this series, I started on it mainly on the strength of your recommendation and I’ve enjoyed it tremendously. Kuro, GG!

Haha, I didn’t think I really recommended this show very much.

To be honest, BAMBOO BLADE’s one of those shows that I probably won’t give a second look at if I were introduced to it by others. If not for the fact I check out all the new shows each season, I’d probably not even know about it.

Thankfully, I did discover the series, and I’m happy to have done so. I’m glad you enjoyed this series too.

Yah, I saw it till the end. Was distinctly average but interestingly, like Neuro, one of the few that I finished.

They definitely made heavy hints towards a second season. The last episode seemed like more of a setup for the next season than an end to the series.

I’m wondering who the new girl is, she’s apparently friends with Rin and I think she resembles Tama-chan’s mother? The ending graphic certainly made it look like they would be future rivals.

Maybe she will make a play for Yuji’s heart. I’d love to see her become Tama-chan’s “rival” in that respect. A little romance would be nice.
