I would have rated this season 20/10 if they ended it with SnH!Yuji but they didn't so I'm giving Shana II a -7/10, -5 for making me suffer through the Konoe-Shana-Yoshida crap, +3 for the Pheles arc, +5 for the Sabrac arc and -10 for wussing out and ending it with their own ending.

@joshquixote: Well technically what Yuji does in the novels can kind of *emphasis on kind of* be equated to Yuji giving Yoshida the middle finger while making Shana alllllll his.

You know what would've been the greatest ending ever, what I was really hoping against hope for when Yoshida meets up with them at the end?

(Yoshida runs up)
Yuji: Yoshida-san!
Yoshida: Yuji...
Yuji: ......Buzz off already.
(grabs Shana and dips her in a tremendous kiss)

Ah well, I can dream, can't I?

Overall I enjoyed this season of Shana, but I agree that it had a pacing problem. The first 8 episodes with Konoe felt dragged and useless. The show really started kicking ass with Pheles' appearance. They should have made this a 1-cour series instead of 2. Alternatively, I would've loved to see some episodes dedicated to Mathilde (former Enpatsu Shakugan no Uchite) and Wilhelmina's past.
The finale was ok, they just couldn't end this with a bad ending. Now they should just wait for the conclusion of the novel series before making the third and last season.

Mixed feelings about the ending. I totally expected that this "ending" wouldn't really be one and that's exactly what happened.

I have to sort of agree with the Namek reference, though this season has advanced the overall plot somewhat, if you step back and really take stock of what was accomplished through these 24 episodes, you'd have to admit that it wasn't really all that much, or all that much different, fundamentally, from Season 1.

I think that the only truly major advancement was Shana's coming to terms with her feelings for Yuji and her rivalry with Yoshida. Other than that, not too much really changed. Each character had a slight bit of development, but I wouldn't call it anything major. Yuji did finally become useful, which was pretty cool, and it was nice to get some backstory on Margery and some slight insight into Carmel. But this entire season was basically about two things, the Shana/Yuji/Yoshida love triangle and Bal Masque's machinations.

Despite the hints at the ending, the love triangle has yet to really be resolved (and I'm guessing they're gonna milk that one for as long as they can) and Bal Masque's plans mainly popped up at the very end only to be quickly dealt with.

Still, I have to admit that despite all this redundancy I still loved watching this series. I just like the characters despite the story. I look forward to a third season and to Yuji finally coming out and picking Shana! I'm not sure if the fading footsteps really signafy anything truly ominous but I guess we'll see.

Hello everybody,
Finally That's the end of the second season...
That was cool to have the oportinity to see Shana's folk again but the first season is better for me even if we could always say that it is a suite and that every seasons is different.

Anyway, i did't like the time they spent to introduce the season 2 with Konoe.
It was toooo long for me,they wasted to much episodes in it, in my opinion.

All we can do is to wait 3rd season, i really hope that we will learn more details about the plots of the serie this time (= mainly about Yuiji's nature and all the facts that it include).

I don't write very often so i would like to say Congratulations and Good luck for Kurogane.animeblog's makers and managers!

See you soon

NO

This isn't WIN. This is FAIL.

It's going to be another season of the same BS without any resolution. Yuuji will go back to being a complete pussy and everything'll just cycle over AGAIN.

Goddamnit...get the hell off NAMEK already.
