Example, it took us thousands of years to finally develop a flying machine (thank you Wright brothers) but it only took about a hundred years for us to develop it in to the modern jets we all know and some really love. In fact, in any development of a new technology, once a successful prototype is made, further developments of it will just take very short amounts of time, most especially in warfare technologies and I don't see why that isn't the case with Gundams. Yes, the Gundams have a temporary technological advantage for now... but as in real life and shounen series, those really never last long before some else one-up's it. Funny, but that’s actually the most believable part of it.

Well have now Exia, Dynames, Kyrios and Virtue in one band, the Thrones in another and finally the world with their new mobile suits. I want to see how they’ll compensate the battlefield.
