true tears

Long hair + wind = Love

<insert comment on show being beautiful>

Autumn is in full swing in the town. Shinichiro is at the tree where he met Noe at first, and she’s not there. Noe comes later and invites him for lunch, but declines that and Noe’s suggestion to walk home together, citing his dance practice. Surprisingly, Noe joins Hiromi for lunch instead, and even trades side dishes with her.

After school, Shinichiro bumps in to Hiromi and they both walk home together, which is spotted by Noe and Miyokichi. Miyokichi later gives the idea of knitting a sweater to Ai-chan when he tells her about it. Back to the couple, they both head for the ocean and have some light banter. Hiromi mentions the lunch with Noe but stops when she talks about her earlier request for him to introduce her to Noe. They both head home right after that, and get spotted walking together by Shinichiro’s mom. She warns Hiromi later to not be seen so close together with him, overheard by Shinichiro.

The next day, both Noe and Hiromi are in a lower spirits. Noe makes lunch again, but she doesn’t see Hiromi at the usual spot, while Hiromi herself is practicing basketball alone. Noe decides to go check out Shinichiro’s dance training with the bentou for him. Noe stops her from eating the tako wieners she made, because those are “food of lies”, instead she tells that he’ll be able to fly and abruptly licks his face to test his tears, making Shinichiro drop the bentou.

Later at night, Shinichro’s working on the picture book again, when he hears the sound of Jun’s scooter. He heads out to meet him, and Jun asks if he’s agreed. Shinichiro replies that people’s feelings aren’t that easy, but Jun says it’s not that big of a matter. This angers Shinichiro and he blurts out that if he goes out with Noe, Jun will go out with Hiromi. Surprisingly, Jun doesn’t know Hiromi, instead refers to her as Mugiha’s No.6, saying that’s she’s pretty cute, and heads off after that.

Shinichiro goes back in feeling irritated and complains about Jun’s selfishness. But he realizes something and decides to head for Hiromi’s room. Hiromi invites him in and comments that it’s the first time he has entered her room. Shinchiro tells him about Jun’s comment, but instead making her happy, Hiromi tells him that he’s too nosy. Shinichiro’s angered and he leaves her room. Afterwards, the same scene is replayed again, but only from Hiromi’s point of view, and she’s disappointed that he went to her room just to tell her that.

Shinichiro bumps to one of his household workers after that, who’s cleaning up the store room and he opens the box that was being carried to find his old picture books and photo albums inside it. Flipping through the albums, they notice some pictures where the one woman’s face has been cut out from it.

Another day passes again, and it’s raining after school. Shinichiro heads alone with Ai-chan’s stall, which is still closed, but Ai-chan reaches soon and opens it. Shinichiro spots a bag containing knitting tools and teases her about it. Ai-chan asks him to let her measure the sweater, and in the middle of it, Miyokichi comes. Shinichiro rises to open the door, but Ai-chan stops him from doing so.

Man, I really just can’t stop writing long summaries for this show.

The relationships are starting to intertwine around, with this episode and the three heroines each get their fair share of show time this week.

Noe seems to be discovering “jealousy”, evident when she makes the bentou of tako-wieners but stops Shinichiro from eating it. Her way of dealing with such feelings is really unique and innocent I’ll say. It really surprised me for a minute there though, when she plopped herself down beside Hiromi and started eating lunch with her. Hiromi’s face when Noe was about to take her tako wieners was just so funny. Coming to think of it, that’s why she made that much of tako-weiners for the following day lol. Noe licking Shinichiro’s face was another hard-to-forget scene too.

Ai-chan is still conflicted between her love for Shinichiro and Miyokichi’s feelings for her. It’s evident she’s making the sweater for Shinichiro, but it doesn’t seem like she’s being entirely honest about it yet. Looks like her path is going to be the most rockiest of all, torn by her own indecisiveness.

As for Hiromi, it must’ve been really sad for her to hear such a comment by Shinchiro, the first time he visits her room. Ah, why can’t Shinichiro realize her true feelings yet? There’s also still the ongoing mystery about her mother, who seems to be antagonized a lot by Shinichiro’s mother, to the extent of removing her faces from all the pictures they’ve taken together.

A shame maybe most fansubs might have dropped it due to bandai’s early license. However, I’m pretty sure somebody will keep doing it, anyway. :p

    kanami –

Though the retail price Bandai Visual USA is asking for is fucking ridiculous! I mean, $40 for a measly 2 sub-only episodes per volume?! C’MON!!!

Haven’t seen this episode, so I don’t know if it was in here. But what about that shirt Ai bought in episode 4? I think that if she wears it around Shinichiro and Noe sees it, she’ll probably comment about how the image on it reminds her of a chicken. I don’t know if Ai knows about Raigomaru, but it would indeed be quite a shock to her if she did.

Well, at least it reminded me of a chicken, and might be the same for Shinichiro.

That’s exactly the reason I said that I’m sure subbers will keep doing it, LOL.

I’ll agree the prices are fucking ridiculous, but perhaps Bandai’s trying to prevent cross-imports of their R1 DVD’s to Japan. The prices they listed are roughly almost the same as the Japanese prices, and if you include shipping costs, it does make them more expensive for Japanese buyers.

Then again, I am really watching true tears in raw, so I’m not too bothered if the subs stop for a while :P.

@semtex: Yes, they do need to think, but what makes true tears wonderful is how they’re telling the story. Every action, every plot development and every character flaw is so natural, that you really can’t blame them. It makes you go…”Ah I would’ve been doing that myself if I were in that position”.

@Asrialys: Yes, Ai-chan wears that sweater this episode, but only Miyokichi sees it. The sweater doesn’t really remind me of a chicken though… it’s purple, for god’s sake, XD.

    @8ghosts: What 40in vertical leap?

    Poor Noe =(

If this episode is any indication, it’s heading for a Hiromi-end, Noe is just kind of in the way.

  10. Asrialys Said,

@Kurogane: Ah, it was a sweater. Anyway, I was talking about the image on the sweater. I don’t know, it just reminds me of a chicken. Although, a different moment can arise from Miyokichi knowing why she bought it and that she went shopping alone with Shinichiro..

  11. kanami Said,

    February 4, 2008 @ 12:03 pm

I think that’s the most obvious reason for the prices. I don’t even live in the US, but I’m pretty sure the price is going to scare a lot of fans there, specially since there’s lot of people that like dubs. Anyway, let’s wait and see.

  12. ShadowFang Said,

I don’t think Noe is in the way at all. Shin’s feelings for Hiromi will probably be there forever and no one’s gonna change it, I dun think. Right now I really wanna noe Jun’s reason for touching Hiromi’s face like that … can’t wait til episode 6.

  13. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    February 4, 2008 @ 1:27 pm

@Asrialys: Oh, you mean the design on the sweater. Yeah, there’s a small chick
pattern on it. I think Miyokichi does know that Ai-chan went shopping with Shinichiro, but he trusts him enough to not suspect anything. It’s also probable he doesn’t know though, because Ai’s been keeping it a secret.

@ShadowFang: I wouldn’t read too much in to it. Most probably Jun’s looking for Shinichiro and bumps in to Hiromi.

Meh, I won’t be happy until Hiromi get’s run over by a bus or something. She is so damn boring -_-

  15. ShadowFang Said,

    February 4, 2008 @ 6:03 pm

@Mip: Dude, I gotta totally agree with you on that one, lol. I think Hiromi is pretty much normal whereas I find anime more interesting with weird characters aka Noe, or take Shiro from Deadman Wonderland for example. It’s a manga everyone should read :)

  16. Derek Said,

    February 4, 2008 @ 10:56 pm

When I say “in the way,” I mean that the writers appear to be steering the show into a direction of ShinxHiromi, thus Noe becomes “in the way” in the sense of being an obstacle to reaching that conclusion. Which sucks for Noe, who happens to my favourite =)

    @ Surely

That’s the most obvious seeming answer for this situation, minus the fact that the mom seems to not even acknowledge that Hiromi is a part of the family – kind of like that whole bastard child thing, right? Like if she is that, the mom probably can’t get past it and look at her as a person, just a remainder of something gone wrong. Though that situation instantly brought to mind the situation in Myself; Yourself. If that’s the case hopefully things will be done in a way that makes a lot of sense…

What’s kind of curious about these two to me is that they’re the same age too. Well…
