I'm inclined to think ep13 is quite a bit more than what people give it credit for.

After waiting for so long, I suppose it's understandable that we expected more, but in the intermission period, I've read 'The Dandelion Girl' and I must say, the similarities between the short story and Kotomi's story make the episode so much more poignant. Enough to make my throat dry when I think of it. I don't really want to list it down here cause there are quite a few, and it'll lose it's impact if I just blurt everything out here and now.

I highly recommend people even slightly interested in clannad to read the short story, if only for a different take on this episode, and the Kotomi arc as a whole. Full marks to Key for the idea, similar appreciation to KyoAni for the execution.

Judging by the tone of the preview line, it probably won't have as sweet an ending as The Dandelion Girl though *sniff*.

Even if it was slow (which is in no way near as slow as Shanna II episodes O_o;), I did appreciate it for what it was, and that was to show how important Kotomi is to the main characters as well through the (tedious?) method they chose to 'do what they can'.

Maybe we were all just upset because Kotomi (who is supposedly leaving soon) didn't make much of an appearance. Most of us probably grew fond of the cute Kotomi in the earlier episodes and are expecting a little more of the same in this one.

Anyway, for a setup episode, I think it's good. It'll depend on how it concludes though. o_O;

I call shenanigans on the violin repairing. Six months sounds way too long, even if the neck is split in half. You'd have to replace it and the fingerboard .. and reattach it to the body. Some re-clamping is in order and that may take a week or two.. but not six months.

So glad Clannad is back. Could this episode really be more than a placeholder, though? I'm sure they'd animate a three-hour movie for each character if they could, but when broken up into 22-minute episodes, maybe some just have to be a little somber.
