Gunslinger Girl ~Il Teatrino~ 01

The show starts off with the usual GSG style, with guns, bombs and terrorists. There was also a lol scene of Henrietta and Jozé on a Vespa chasing the terrorists all over town, with Henrietta providing fire support. I’m actually displeased at that since the whole freaking section is supposed to be, erm, top secret? I’m wondering how are they going to cover up the fact that a little girl was riding passenger on a scooter holding a FN-P90 all around town.

Okay, that aside, the art really feels like crap and looks “cheap” to me. Seriously. It’s miles away from the original GSG anime with the noir atmosphere etched in to every scene. Il Teatrino’s art just looks like budget anime, no matter what way you can spin it towards.

Then, they went and hired a whole new cast of seiyuus for the show. Henrietta feels totally off from the first GSG anime. Henrietta is supposed to be shy but the Il Teatrino version is just… chirpy? Not to mention the voice is totally way off. Well, at the least the other new seiyuus seem to be doing an okay job of the other characters for now.

Sigh… I wonder if I should continue with this show.

Henrietta is carrying a FN P90. It’s my fav gun in games (since CS) and TV shows (SG-1 mainly).

Look like the show has been impacted by censorship as well (note that they omitted bullet entries from many gunshot scenes.)

Oh well, I’ll wait til I see their treatment of Pinocchio (which should be next week) to make up my mind.

Wow Kurogane, first you mess up on your jet fighters, and now on your firearms?? *tsk tsk*

    j/k

Anyway, I totally agree with you on the art side of things. I compared a bunch of side by side screenshots, and it’s just a night and day difference in quality. On the other hand, I do like the new crop of seiyuu so far, especially Mizuno Risa as Claes.

I was typing a bit too fast then, made a bad typo there. Hey only the initials were exchanged anyways!

As for the new crop of seiyuu.. my main beef is Henrietta still. They hired a total newbie to voice her, and it kinda shows.

my issue with the new season is the badly rendered guns.

thats 1 reason less to watch it. i just hope claes and hanazawa kana is enough of a reason.
