Rosario+Vampire starts

Rather stereotypical first episode for a romance/comedy + supernatural twist series.

The only highlight was hearing Nana Mizuki’s evil voice, but too bad it was only for two lines. Her chirpy voice as normal Moka is okay too and a bit more dynamic I guess.

Too much tasteless fanservice all throughout though, especially for Moka, who seems to be wearing skirts that cover only 2/3rds of her butt. Then there was also all those fanservice camera angles, which gets a bit boring because EVERYONE in the Rosario world seems to wear only white panties. At least vary the colors a bit, Gonzo.

Hey, it’s Gonzo, what else do you expect? lol

After the mess Gonzo did with Chrno Crusade and Trinity Blood, I pretty much lost all respect for them when it comes to adapting manga and light novels. Though they still did a superb job when it comes to original, or re-tellings of classic novels/plays like the Count of Monte Cristo and Romeo x Juliet.

I’ve once heard a comment that if Gonzo is the Microsoft of the anime industry, then Kyo-Ani would be Google. (Though I personally think Gonzo won’t even qualify as a Dell or Hewlett-Packard, let alone mega-corps like Microsoft, IBM and Apple. )

I disagree with Chrono Crusade since it a popular anime for many.

Anyway Gonzo can make great anime like Kaleido Star which is one of my favourite anime. Although I feel sometimes they try to produce too many anime in one season spreading their budget too thinly.

Gonzo hasn’t made anything remotely decent since Last Exile. Whenever I see there name attached to any particular show as the main production house I actually cringe.

I also think most Gonzo shows are average at best. However, Bokura no, Seto no Hanayome, and N.H.K. were all very good shows and imo greatly improve on their mediocre source material. I’ve never read the Rosario manga, but the show seems pretty generic. But Rental Magica’s generic too and I enjoy that, so we’ll see.

Moka is such a Simca/Maya Natsume clone. But I love her anyway ^^

Why must they keep ruining anime with pointless, always tasteless panty shots? Cute girls, clean art, an energetic group of voices … and all ruined by retarded, gratuitous, over-the-top panty shots. In 22 years I remember not one instance where someone OOPS! flashed their panties. Then again, I’m not really looking up skirts. Soemtimes I reaaaaaally wonder about the Japanese.

    Too much gratuitous fanservice???

    Fanservice is tasteless???!!

What is WRONG with you people??!!

Really now….PLEASE!! That is what fanservice is all about!! This is obviously going to be THE fanservice show of the winter season, as pointless and idiotic as Ninomiya-kun. So bring it on!! Bring me my Moka Fanservice NOW!!

There is NOTHING wrong with white panties!!

And the NEXT episode is called Succusbus + Vampire!!?? I can hardly wait!!

Fat: The problem is that this isn’t even fanservice anymore. Fanservice implies you WANT to see what they’re showing, that it’s titillating and fun. This is… panties. And cleavage. You can get similar stuff by watching h-anime, and probably in a similar quantity.

I just now finished watching the first episode. And quite frankly I love it.
I agree with Fat, I’m loving the fanservice, there’s nothing better.

But they could tone it down a little though. it takes you out of the story when it shows up unexpectedly and out of the blue.

They should try to be more AirMaster (fanservice for a reason:Maki is a really kickboxer and wears skirts) as opposed to Agent Aika (so many pantsu shots you don’t really care what the story or plot is because you’re too disgusted/distracted/enthralled)

Well, I watched it and I’m not quite sure what I think yet. I think the animation is decent, while somewhat generic I am a sucker for these type of shows. I think sometimes a little fanservice is nice on them, but when it goes too far and happens like every 10 seconds it becomes slightly irritating, and takes away from any quality the show could have.

Love the anime! After episode 2, I checked out the manga, and after 2 days was able to finish the entire 25 available scans. Cute story, has a lot of heart and the manga is WAAAAAAAY darker than what the 2 anime episodes show.

And I have no problem with the panty shots. If you have an issue with it, dont watch it. Had the same hissy fit thrown by some posters about Ikkitousen, but it’s part of the show. It’s not like Moka is running around naked with Kurumu (hmmm…good thought there). Anyways, it’s a keeper.

Just like anime vs manga, no contest…the anime version hands down is better. The INNER vampire Moka is hotter than the manga, so Gonzo’s artistry I will have to give props for.

Seen half of episode three, and the setups are getting even more ridiculous. A whole six minutes of the first half focusing around squeezing breasts? I really hope the story kicks in soon, because the fanservice is wasting my time.

ok…….even though i have watching anime for 10 plus years, I have only recently started reading manga….question ( if i may be permitted to publicly display my ignorance ) ano….how come the manga version of Rosario is WAY BETTER??? SWEET LORD…..i just read every single volume, every chapter, every word in like 6 hours…as we speak…i have a bot on my Mac scouring the internet looking for the next page….is this what it means to be a crackhead…….help!
