Comic Fiesta 2007
This year’s CF was like, 9001% more awesome than the last year’s one, mainly because they finally chose a good venue to hold it, which was at Berjaya Times Square 6th floor, 9001 times more accessible than the old venue of Sri Sedaya (ugh).

The event venue was much more wider and it had a really cool feature to boot, windows to let natural light in, and damn, that really made the place look real nice as well. Also, thanks to the natural light, I saved a lot of my camera’s battery, because I didn’t really need to use the flash.
Booths wise, there was a way lot more variety this year. KomikFactory, Ben’s new company was there to promote his new magazine, Powder. HP, this year’s major sponsor, showcased their workstations, along with 30 inch LCD’s to boot. Damn, really want one of those babies. Doujin group participations increased as well, and there were quite a number of groups there this year, including Collateral Damage from Singapore, which sold their Superscenic Artbook + OST, quite a first over here, and the OST by Tera is a pretty good one too. The Figure Mall, a local online figurine shop, did a mini figurine display as well, and man I really spent hours on their booth, admiring and taking photos of the figurine.
Cosplay-wise, saw quite a variety of cosplays done, and I’m thankful there’s not so many Naruto/Bleach/whatever-mainstream-shounen-anime character cosplays overwhelmingly being the majority of the cosplayers. I saw some from Trinity Blood, Rozen Maiden, one Tsukasa cosplayer and even a really nice Yuko Ichihara + Tomoyo-hime. My personal best cosplay of all has to go to Jac’Kee, who cosplayed as Mitsuru-senpai from Persona 3. Why? She’s also the Vice President of the event committee, XD. The cosplay competition was a bit disappointing though, since the really good ones never entered it. At the end of the day, Hellboy cosplayer won Best Cosplayer while a Seth cosplayer won Best Craftsmanship.

Stage perfomances included a male version Hare Hare dance on the first day, while the second day had another mass Hare Hare dance and later on, singing performances by Sky and one more performer, whose name I didn’t get. Not bad vocals from both of them. Emcee Alfred was quite a riot for both days… but he has an unhealthy fetish for double cheeseburgers. I hope it’s not too much LOLCAT.
Some of the negative things to say, were the lack of stage performances the first day, which made it really boring after you’re done with the booths and cosplayers. Also the usual overcrowdedness applied, but for being the first time having the event there, getting the event overcrowded was really awesome. The cosplay chess thing was also rather boring… since they didn’t really utilize fully the special boxes where you get asked to do some ridiculous things. Also, they could’ve labelled the doujin booths as so to allow people to look for their favourites more easily. Some time confusion also happened on the last day, with the results for the competitions announced one hour earlier than announced.
Overall, CF’07 was a really good event, and I really did enjoy myself for both the days (now you know where I’ve disappeared). Hope the CF committee keeps up their good work for next year’s event. More pictures after the jump.
