Comic Fiesta 2007

This year’s CF was like, 9001% more awesome than the last year’s one, mainly because they finally chose a good venue to hold it, which was at Berjaya Times Square 6th floor, 9001 times more accessible than the old venue of Sri Sedaya (ugh).

Comic Fiesta 2007

The event venue was much more wider and it had a really cool feature to boot, windows to let natural light in, and damn, that really made the place look real nice as well. Also, thanks to the natural light, I saved a lot of my camera’s battery, because I didn’t really need to use the flash.

Booths wise, there was a way lot more variety this year. KomikFactory, Ben’s new company was there to promote his new magazine, Powder. HP, this year’s major sponsor, showcased their workstations, along with 30 inch LCD’s to boot. Damn, really want one of those babies. Doujin group participations increased as well, and there were quite a number of groups there this year, including Collateral Damage from Singapore, which sold their Superscenic Artbook + OST, quite a first over here, and the OST by Tera is a pretty good one too. The Figure Mall, a local online figurine shop, did a mini figurine display as well, and man I really spent hours on their booth, admiring and taking photos of the figurine.

Cosplay-wise, saw quite a variety of cosplays done, and I’m thankful there’s not so many Naruto/Bleach/whatever-mainstream-shounen-anime character cosplays overwhelmingly being the majority of the cosplayers. I saw some from Trinity Blood, Rozen Maiden, one Tsukasa cosplayer and even a really nice Yuko Ichihara + Tomoyo-hime. My personal best cosplay of all has to go to Jac’Kee, who cosplayed as Mitsuru-senpai from Persona 3. Why? She’s also the Vice President of the event committee, XD. The cosplay competition was a bit disappointing though, since the really good ones never entered it. At the end of the day, Hellboy cosplayer won Best Cosplayer while a Seth cosplayer won Best Craftsmanship.

Comic Fiesta 2007

Stage perfomances included a male version Hare Hare dance on the first day, while the second day had another mass Hare Hare dance and later on, singing performances by Sky and one more performer, whose name I didn’t get. Not bad vocals from both of them. Emcee Alfred was quite a riot for both days… but he has an unhealthy fetish for double cheeseburgers. I hope it’s not too much LOLCAT.

Some of the negative things to say, were the lack of stage performances the first day, which made it really boring after you’re done with the booths and cosplayers. Also the usual overcrowdedness applied, but for being the first time having the event there, getting the event overcrowded was really awesome. The cosplay chess thing was also rather boring… since they didn’t really utilize fully the special boxes where you get asked to do some ridiculous things. Also, they could’ve labelled the doujin booths as so to allow people to look for their favourites more easily. Some time confusion also happened on the last day, with the results for the competitions announced one hour earlier than announced.

Overall, CF’07 was a really good event, and I really did enjoy myself for both the days (now you know where I’ve disappeared). Hope the CF committee keeps up their good work for next year’s event. More pictures after the jump.

CLANNAD 11

CLANNAD

This is Kotomi. Her hobby is reading. Her weapon is violins.

Awesome beyond belief, this episode was.

A laugh fest from the start until the last 3 minutes, this was a pretty awesome episode that was Kotomi-centric, but still had time to develop up Kyou’s story as well. I especially loved how Kyou made a chance for her and Tomoya to be alone, and then asking him if he would consider going out with someone who loves him a lot. Ahh~~ Kyou. Oh, and Mahou Shoujo Kyou made an appearance too lulz.

Then there was also some nice cinematography shots of Kotomi herself, plus that weird, weeeeeeeird dream Tomoya had, which was truly fucked up.

Best of all, has gotta be the violin recital. There was this really cute moment where the orange striped cat tried to run away and bumped in to Botan, and the both of them exchange some words… before dropping dead XD.

Genshiken II 10

Genshiken II

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Ohno’s American friends are damn freaking awesome.

Gotta say, Yuki Kaida(Angela’s seiyuu) has some really good English mastery. Ayako Kawasumi’s english is pretty okay, although she still stutters a bit at parts. Best is probably Yuka Goto, voicing Sue who only communicates in anime phrases. Well, no english from her, but it was pretty funny enough to hear Yuka Goto utter some trademark lines of otakudom.

Even better, they’re sticking around for one more episode! More laughs abound woo hoo!

NIGHT WIZARD 11

NIGHT WIZARD

Woo… the faceoff between Hiiragi and Akari was pretty awesome, although a bit short. Also shocking was the revelation that Elis was probably just made a few days before the start of the show and all her past memories were fakes.

Still don’t know who’s exactly behind all this, but it’s big enough for Bell Zephyr to offer an alliance with Anzelotte.

Two more episodes to go… ahh, the end of another season approaches.

Minami-ke 10

Minami-ke

More Minami-ke madness this week. Touma Minami, self-decided “younger brother” by Chiaki, is introduced. More Mako-chan too, and we all know Mako-chan is our favorite trap this season, so yippee!

Thanks to them both, the LULZ factor this episode was pretty high, but the best one… has gotta be Mako-chan’s magic trick at the very end of the episode. Second best was Chiaki asking Touma’s birth month, which is April, then 90 degree angle change to declaring since she’s autumn (Chi”Aki”) and Touma’s winter (the “Tou” kanji), therefore she’s the elder sister. Chiaki can be such a sore loser at times XD.

Minami-ke

TA-DAAA!!! HENSHIN COMPLETE!

Liking a lot of Nana Mizuki’s rendition of Touma Minami as well, since it’s like the first time I’ve seen her doing a role that isn’t a “silent at first, opens up later” archetype. Finally she gets a role which allows her a more dynamic range of voicing.

Lastly, just saddens me to know that there’s only 2 more Minami-ke episodes left, especially with Nana Mizuki joining in the lineup at this point of time. Minami-ke: Okawari doesn’t seem to be the comedy type… but maybe… maybe…

Shana II 10

Shakugan no Shana II

As expected, Kantaro was introduced. Wasn’t that exciting of an episode though, mainly focused on the upcoming school festival on the first half, with Yoshida getting chosen to play Juliet beside Yuuji as Romeo. But it seems both Shana and Yoshida have matured a lot… since Shana didn’t feel any jealousy for that, while Yoshida didn’t get overtly excited about it either.

Kantaro came in to play on the second half, and basically he and Chigusa played Love Doctors to the both of them. Man, how can Yuuji be that dense?! Both Shana and Yoshida really have a long way ahead of them…
