Liking a lot of Nana Mizuki’s rendition of Touma Minami as well, since it’s like the first time I’ve seen her doing a role that isn’t a “silent at first, opens up later” archetype. Finally she gets a role which allows her a more dynamic range of voicing.

Tsuyokiss had her doing all kinds of voices and in a lead role. It was probably one of her best performances, but of course no one paid attention to Tsuyokiss. :D Mizuki Nana has done a fair amount of good performances, but she's usually casted in crappy series (Guyver, Kissdum, Koi Koi Seven), less popular series (Seven of Seven, 2x2=Shinobuden), or they're minor roles that get overshadowed (Claymore, Minami-ke, Full Metal Alchemist). I'm looking forward to seeing what she does in Rosario + Vampire next month.

Well, the joke HERE is that everyone thinks Makoto/Mako-chan is STILL a girl, because Touma insisted she was a he... and Haruka along with Chiaki are taking this as an expression of solidarity; that Mako-chan was crossplaying all along, and now has a schoolmate who is also doing so.

It doesn't help Mako-chan's case that he's wearing a long dress which really IS more feminine than anything Chiaki ever wears, much less Kana. Poor Mako-chan, trying not to take advantage of the below-kotatsu position to peep on Haruka. Of course, with the way Kana was kicking him, it was only a matter of time before he ended up in someone's lap, and at least Touma's sympathetic to his plight, even if it confuses the hell out of her.

@Karry:
I guess there's a lot of context in this episode if you don't have a little bit of prior knowledge of the characters. At the start, we find out that there's another classmate with the surname Minami. Total coincidence, but Chiaki decides to take advantage of the situation. And so you get all the reverse trap humor from that.

And then you follow with the Mako-chan scenes, which require that you've seen previous episodes to know that only Kana (and now Touma, too) knows about Mako-chan's secret identity.

Otherwise, I don't understand either when you say you don't get what the episode was about. Other than a recurring theme, each episode is composed of random sketches (to use your term) that are just funny on their own.

@Son Gohan:
Hee' I thought the same thing. But I would vote Heaven; all that lovely eye candy is definitely worth the suffocation, especially later when Makoto supposedly had his head in Touma's lap.

Maybe its Ayako's subbing errors, but i have absolutely no idea what this episode was about. None of the sketches made any sense...a striking difference from the previous episodes. Changed director ?

Okawari is NOT Season 2 - it's another Minami-ke series, however, by a different studio, and probably a different focus.
