Wow. This thread seems to have drawn quite a bit of discussion. Let me say first that I sort of randomly stumbled on this site because I Google'd Ogiue (my favorite character from Genshiken).

And, as a woman who enjoys boys' love, I have to say that I did NOT enjoy the yaoi scenes in Genshiken. I'm pretty picky about my boys' love stories, and I don't like power differentials (stories where one guy is really wimpy or weepy and the other is cruel and cold).

(I thought the manga handled the yaoi aspect with much more taste.)

So, the yaoi portrayed didn't speak to my inner fangirl. But, I do know that some people prefer yaoi similar to the stuff that appeared in the Genshiken episode. *shrug* To each her own, I guess.

And, for what it's worth, I'm not generally bothered by girl-girl stuff, but I don't seek it out and generally prefer it not to be explicit. So, I respect guys who feel the same way about guy-guy stuff.

Hehe, this was one of the most hillarious episode I've ever seen :-D I laughed almost all the time throught the episode. There's definitely nothing wrong with this kind of yaoi stuff in this show... After this episode I start loving ogi-chan even more than after reading the manga :-D

::sigh:: IT WAS A PARODY OF YAOI MANGA. It didn't "go too far." That's exactly how they are. I laughed my ass off. I don't see why some of you are freaking out. Gosh. I thought it was going to be really explicit. You guys are overdramatic.
