It is not the voting system that is the problem, it is the whole faction politics/hate revenge/revenge vote that is the problem. Yes, the whole problem lies in people. If everyone were not that blinded by hatred of a show/studio or hunger for revenge, this saimoe would not have that bitter taste.

Strawberry Panic Legion’s fate was sealed by Chikaru’s defeat in the hands of CC.

Aria girls got shafted as usual.

Nanoha took a heavy blow from Fate’s defeat.

Lucky Star just could not escape from 2ch/4chan hate and revenge-thirsty HnGists.

Higurashi characters has been used as tools for strategic votes and revenge votes as shown by Rena’s final defeat.

Etc,…

Final thought, this saimoe is a pyrrhic victory for the anti-doll faction.

And which season of Higurashi was running during the tournament?

Yes, I know that, technically, this tournament was not for the current season, but due to it running concurrently with the tournament it is going to have a high effect.

And, quite honestly, Himatsubushi, Meakashi, and Tsumihoroboshi secured my love for Rika way back in the first season. And she’s powerful moe. Only Touka was more moe this tournament. Hell, only Touka is more moe period.

You can so easily say that someone isn’t the best that could be there or that they aren’t the best in their show but it still comes down to the fact that no one cares.

As for the voting system, I still don’t see a reason to complain about what went on this year. Far as I know, any problems that went on weren’t hard to avoid and it’s not like anyone personally went in and altered numbers or votes. So, is there really a necessity to complain? I’d really like someone to convince me otherwise.

What’s better? Lucky Star? lol no. Both are great shows. Though I agree I’d rather have anyone from HnG then Nagi. She’s not nearly even the best character on her own show, let alone deserves to be this far in the finals. Rika, I like… but I don’t think she stands out much in Higurashi (kai is more her show). Rena would have been better.

You know this tournament, it’s not really the popularity that counts. It’s been really been chaotic and unpredictable, hence we have two unlikely finalists.

Of course, that’s your opinion that both shows aren’t on your “high” list. If you ask me, I really enjoy watching fans go at it as if their lives were at stake. ^_^

Does anyone honestly believe these are the two most popular characters in all of 2006-2007 anime? It just seems like an odd matchup for the final pairing. Hell Nagi is the second or third best female character in her own show (my opinion) and Rika is probably the 2nd best in her show (also my opinion). Plus I would not rank Hayate or Higurashi high on my list of shows for this time line, as there were much better anime than these two shows.
