“Do you believe in equivalent luck?”

It seems to apply to me. A lot.

I just went through what possibly could be one of the most interesting days of my life. Ever.

First, the good news. I have finally achieved one of my otaku objectives, which is owning Kotobukiya’s Gothloli Asuka, thanks to Stripey-dono. I owe you an eternal debt of gratitude, my fellow brother-in-interests :).

Then, at night, I’m trying to install another HDD in to my PC, to fit in my ever-burgeoning collection of data, when somehow, I manage to fry my music HDD. OTL. 200GB of anison, gone. Just like that. Also fried another HDD, empty this time, to replace it. OTL, again. Not to mention, my newly bought VGA cooler wouldn’t fit on my video card thanks to two stupidly placed capacitors.

I’m surprised I’m still keeping my sanity. Wonderful day it has been, no?

Wow. Well, I myself believe that my life is ruled by irony. Lots of good things happen. Then the worst happens out of nowhere. You know…I think my 120 GB external HD (about 90 GB anime and the rest music and pics) is close to its end. It makes noises every now and then…

Kruo, i stop adding hdd to my comp a awhile back. These days i use external drives. I only turn on the drives i need to use at the moment. Cost a bit extra but it saves energy and reduce heat.

=( Sadness.. But I agree with the other comments; go external with future HDDs. I recommend the LaCie brand. Both Amazon and lacie.com itself have good prices for a 500GB external. 1TB drives are starting to become economical, too.

And I’m guessing you can’t clip those capacitors and rewire/resolder them elsewhere, either… Blah.

200 Gigs… I feel your pain… I feel it very well… It’s the reason I’ve switched and resorted to Externals. I only place the essentials now on my internal drives.

I feel your pain though… I really, really do.

Alamak! Surely you don’t deserve this after the kindness you have shown me this day? *Shakes fists at Haruhi*

Hope you restore your data somehow soon. And remember to let me know when if you ever come down south. I’ll try to reciprocate the wonderful hospitality :)
