I'm having dilemma of whether to hope Gainax to produce a special episode about Noriko's return or not.

Most likely it wont be produced, too risky for this masterpiece.

Yeah I know I shouldn't be comparing Gurren Lagaan to TwN! 2, but some fans of it are definitely asking for it with their proclamations that "NOTHING WILL EVER MATCH UP TO GURREN LAGAAN. EVER!!!!!111oneoneone".

Think of this as a gentle reminder that there are other shows out there that warrant more fanboyism.

@Hao: Oh god yes. You MUST watch TwN! 1 before TwN! 2.

I believe wildarmsheero is right. You are not manly enough to appreciate GL for what it is. Personally, I prefer TwN over TwN2 despite the fact that the latter was more cooler.

And TwN is more epic than TwN2. Destroying the core of the galaxy tops using the earth as a battering ram anyday.

I think Top2 is pretty good, almost better than Top1 in some ways. Mostly because it's by a group of professionals now, rather than a bunch of kids. However, I think Top1 had more raw emotion, which really made the end of it feel more epic than Top2.

Even if they both are mecha seires, I think it's apples and oranges to compare Top2 to Gurren Lagann. Gurren Lagann taps into raw manly energy, which is simply not present in Top2 (mostly because the characters are mostly female)

Though, they both still have that same FLCL-ness about them...

Man oh man, do I love Nono. There was a period of about three months where I obsessed over this series. TwN! 2 (Diebuster) is definitely one of my all time favorites. It is a lot like TwN! 1 (Gunbuster) except approximately 80 billion times cooler. After all, it does have Groovin' Magic.

As much as I still believe the original Gunbuster is better, I really enjoyed TwN 2 and I'm looking forward to the R2 DVD release (when, Bandai, WHEN?). T-N was fun but when you look at the mecha size and sheer scale of things, Gunbuster still takes some beating for epic-ness! It's deserving of its 20th anniversary status and proves Gainax haven't lost their touch - certainly one hell of a lot more than the epic disappointment that was 'This Ugly Yet Beautiful World', at least. It's good to know that hard work and guts still matters!
