StrikerS 17

Nanoha StrikerS

Sorry for the quality, upscaled from eyecancer raw.

Subaru in Berserker Mode. Now, -this- is what I call “Nanoha StrikerS”.

Isn’t it funny when right after I make that post, the show suddenly knocks you socks off? Sadly, I can foresee the next few episodes sucking hard until the final 2 or 3 episodes, where it’ll all be explosions over again, and hopefully more Subaru in Berserker mode.

    “GIN-NEE WO KAISE!”

Kind of ironic how StrikerS mostly hasn’t been as good the older Nanoha series and yet this episode is best episode in the entire franchise, IMO.

As for the series going back down to its uneventful mood for next few episodes… from the spoiler summaries I’ve been reading, don’t count on it being for a “few” episodes.

And to clarify, if you find my message implies that there are boring episodes than you are predicting… you’ve got the wrong impression as well.

Ugh… sorry for triple commenting. My previous one is missing the word “more”.

LOL, it certainly seems like the producers read your blog. Though I won’t be surprised if next episode is titled “Even More Training (Part 1 of 6)”.

@Tokkan: I get your point. Anyways, best Nanoha episode is still A’s 01 and 02, Nanoha vs Vita and later joined by Fate and Yunno with the other kishidan sparring with them. Nothing in the franchise has beat that yet for me.

Still, it was an awesome episode per se, with Subaru going Berserker mode for 5 minutes and Kyaro summoning out Voltaire at the end. Yet. YET. The franchise still sucks at a whole and my points are still valid.

Next episode would be Subaru going emo, Hayate going emo over Rein, Nanoha going emo about Vivio and Fate going emo about being useless. Basically emo episode, with probably some twist at the end.

Seriously, they should have just stuck to the 13-episode structure.

Where did that “Voltaire” name come from? I thought it sounded more like “Balter” or something. It’s kinda weird to name such a beast “Voltaire” anyways, damned japs…

Voltaire and Friedrich (Caro’s dragons) are named after figures from 18th century Europe. Or so says NanohaWiki.

Again, damned japs messing up my philosophy classes :S
What are they going to use next, Kant?

That would be pretty cool, sagematt. Although he would just be called Immanuel, of course… Sounds so much more exotic. ;)

Voltaire’s obvious in terms of philosophers, but if we’re sticking to the 18th Century, that makes Friedrich a bit trickier to nail down. If I had free rein among European philosophers I’d automatically go for Nietzsche, but he’s 19th Century of course. Any thoughts? I’d like to say Friedrich Schleiermacher, but that’s because I’m a theologian and he’s one of my favourite philosopher/theologians. I’m loving the thought of Voltaire as a huge black dragon though. Awesome.

In all seriousness though, I’ve been enjoying StrikerS. This probably has to do with my appreciation of slow-paced character-based anime though, and a previously established love of most of the main characters. I like the setup, like all the new characters (the number doesn’t seem particularly overwhelming to me), and especially like Fate and Nanoha as a married couple. ^_^ The excitement of the last few eps has just been the icing on the cake for me. Bring on ep 18!

I finally catch up with the YESY version of StrikerS (episode 14 so far). And after reading about episode 17 and seeing the last part of episode 14; you could have guessed that Subaru was one of the Numbers (since Ginga’s mother died in that Cyborg accident and her father watching that picture of Ginga or her wife). Anyway, now that we reached this point of no return, something big has to happen with Vivio too.

What I hate the most is Fate and Nanoha’s relationship. I’m a shoujo-ai lover, so…

    See you next week.

Haruchin, I was thinking Hegel or Engels. I didn’t think of Nietzsche. OTL.

    @DmonHiro
Too bad, even if i “S&^K IT”,
There really aint much redeeming quality to give me a reason to pick up a show so i can flip another table watching it again.
26 episodes with a great potential in the story and all i get is a few minutes of deja vu climax? Pleeeease…
I’d just stick with reading reviews.

“To all the fools who dropped StrikerS: you may now S&^K IT!!”

Yeah, god forbid anyone drops a crappy show ever that has a few minutes of redeeming bits to it. I only wish I had jettisoned such restraint sooner with trainwrecks like Mai-Otome and Sola.
