Meh, it'll be a while until the specials are released. They should be coming with the final DVD probably around October, so it'll be a while before we see them.

I could be wrong though... so don't take that at face value.

@Syaoran: At the moment, I'm really hoping for an AIR Summer Special-style flashback episode. I would really love to see how the friendship between Yorito, Aono and Matsuri first blossomed.

Just don't forget Kurogane, the extra-episodes aren't related with one another, so anything can happen with them.

"will honestly say that I do like her paper control ability though, it was god damned awesome while it lasted."

- I think it would be nice if there were a spin-off of Aono owning people with her paper....oh wait, that's ROD....

@r3dking: It just goes to show that memories might be erased, but the feeling doesn’t.

(Kuro: Merged both comments for better readability.)

The cans of Tomato Silk are more than symbolic. They confirm what was already apparent. We heard that the katana takes the life (命) of one yaka and uses it to turn another yaka into human. It turns out that a better description might have been that it takes the essense of two yakas and merges them to form one human. The transformed Aono is part Matsuri, as evidenced by everything from her speech patterns to her choice of tomato juice. It is less well explained how Yorito's essence is given to Mana, much less his camera bag, but she has ended up with his love of the sky and his prediliction for photographing it. It's certainly not the ending I was expecting, but it is a very clever way to soften the disappearance of Matsuri and Yorito. Did they actually plan this, when they agreed to disappear together?

If this anime has taught me one thing, its that I need to give every anime a good chance before I decide to watch it all or not. When i saw the review for it back in the spring season previews it caught my attention just as something nice to watch but now, its definitely one of the best shows i've ever seen. Originally I was just really excited for Lucky Star, but after like ep 6 of this it took precedence over the competition. Once again, great show and good times, I'll be watching out for whatever this particular studio does in the future.

When I watched the end of last week's episode, I was almost so sure that Aono got stabbed... Oh well, I guess I was wrong.

This anime has been a fun ride from the start up till the end. It's kind of sad to see it end, but I guess every good thing will sooner or later. I'm glad I found this anime and stuck with it. Too bad I can't understand Japanese... I guess I'll wait until Monday to watch the fansubbed version.

Judging the entire series as a whole, bitter-sweet ending it had was the correct choice to make. Some animes are better off having the lead male and female die, imho.

Btw, this is actually my first post. :P

Meh, those two tomato cans are just the usual use of symbolism that seems to be pretty overused. I find that was pretty cheesy in my opinion, and it doesn't really add any "value" to the ending at all.

Yorito and Matsuri's passing away is pretty much final in the context of the series, since from the start, Yorito has been dead and the current Yorito is a paper construct made from Aono's Yaka powers and with Aono becoming human, it's unlikely she retains her Yaka powers. I will honestly say that I do like her paper control ability though, it was god damned awesome while it lasted.

As for Matsuri, as it has been explained, the sword takes the life of a Yaka to restore another Yaka back to human, and with Aono becoming human, so it's sadly bye bye Matsuri.

Given a choice of wanting them to be alive or disappear, I would gladly choose for the current situation. Pulling a deus ex machina and suddenly reviving them would so cheapen the story's value, IMHO.

After last week's episode, I was expecting something really big for the finale, not that I was disappointed after seeing this last episode. It was melodramatic and ended "happily" which was quite fitting for the series. Although I expected Aono to break down and go emo (as if she was not) and kill herself after Yorito inevitably disappeared. I feel bad for Matsuri. I wish she survived, but that would be too cheesy.

I wonder what those two tomato juice cans were all about? I think it's just a gimmick to keep you guessing, sort of like an open ending to let the audience decide if Matsuri or Yorito were alive.

I think they died for sure, but who knows.

Overall, Sola has been quite a ride. It far exceeded my expectations from the start.
